🚨 Mentor Police Host 11th Annual Fill-a-Cruiser Food Drive on November 10

City of Mentor
Mentor Police will be holding their eleventh annual Fill-a-Cruiser Food Drive on Sunday, November 10, 2024. The event will take place from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Giant Eagle supermarket on 8383 Tyler Boulevard.
During this time, officers will be collecting non-perishable food items and cash donations, which will go to local food pantries to support families in need within the City of Mentor. Over the past decade, the Fill-a-Cruiser initiative has gathered enough food to fill 24 police vehicles and raised nearly $19,000 in cash donations, demonstrating the community's consistent support and generosity.
The Mentor Police Department is encouraging residents to contribute again this year and help make a positive impact on local families.

🏀 Cavaliers Outlast Nets with Small-Ball Strategy, Achieving Historic 11-0 Start
The Cleveland Cavaliers pushed through fatigue and adversity to earn a hard-fought 105-100 win over the Brooklyn Nets, completing the second game of a challenging back-to-back after an emotional win against the Golden State Warriors. The Cavs started strong, powered by Donovan Mitchell’s 15 points in the first quarter, which helped secure an early lead. However, they faltered in the third quarter, allowing the Nets to surge ahead with a 15-0 run, leaving Cleveland trailing by 12 heading into the final period.
In the fourth quarter, Cleveland’s unconventional small-ball lineup—with Evan Mobley at center and Caris LeVert as the power forward—helped turn the tide. Although they struggled to secure rebounds initially, the small lineup’s spacing enabled the guards, particularly Darius Garland and Ty Jerome, to drive to the basket and create scoring opportunities. Mobley anchored the defense, making a crucial block on Brooklyn’s final possession, which ultimately secured the win.
Mobley’s performance was a standout, finishing with 23 points, 16 rebounds, and critical defensive plays that validated head coach Kenny Atkinson’s trust in the small-ball strategy. Atkinson’s tactical decision to stick with the unconventional lineup despite the risks paid off, as Cleveland locked down defensively in the last minutes, surrendering only four points in the closing four and a half minutes.
The win improves the Cavaliers to a record-breaking 11-0 start, marking the best season opening in franchise history.
