❄️Winter Shows Up - Lake Effect Snow Hits Cleveland Area

The Cleveland area was hit last night as lake effect snow swept through, creating hazardous travel conditions and coating the region in winter white. The National Weather Service issued a Lake Effect Snow Warning for Cuyahoga and Lake Counties, which was scheduled to remain in effect until 2:00 AM Friday morning.

The storm brought additional snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches overnight, bringing some totals to as much as 8 inches. Eastern Cuyahoga and western Lake Counties saw the brunt of the snowfall, with visibility dropping below 1/4 mile in some areas due to heavy snow and blowing winds.

See Video Here on the Road Conditions Last Night.

The Ohio Department of Transportation and the Ohio Turnpike and Infrastructure Commission have also advised travelers to stay informed via www.ohgo.com for up-to-date road conditions.

Forecasters predict a slight break in snowfall as Friday unfolds, with warmer temperatures expected over the weekend. However, rapidly changing weather patterns could lead to more localized snow in the coming days.

Residents should remain prepared for sudden weather shifts, keeping emergency kits in vehicles and monitoring local weather updates.

🚨 Close Call Highlights Importance of Move Over and Slow Down Laws

Mentor Police Remind Drivers: Move Over and Slow Down to Protect Lives.

A Mentor police officer recently had a close call while conducting a routine traffic stop on State Route 306, narrowly avoiding being struck by a passing vehicle. This incident underscores the importance of adhering to "Move Over and Slow Down" laws designed to protect emergency personnel, hazard crews, and tow truck operators working roadside.

The law requires drivers to switch lanes or reduce speed when approaching stationary vehicles with flashing lights on the side of the road. It's more than a safety guideline—it’s a legal obligation.

Every year, preventable traffic incidents claim the lives of first responders and roadside workers. Taking simple actions like slowing down and giving space can help save lives and ensure that those working to keep the roads safe can return home to their families.

Let’s prioritize safety and do our part to protect those who risk their lives for us every day.

🏈 Mentor vs. St. Edward: Rivals Collide for Regional Championship Showdown

Mentor vs. St. Eds

The longstanding rivalry between Mentor and St. Edward football teams will reignite tonight, as the Cardinals (13-0) and Eagles (8-5) face off for the Division I, Region 1 championship at Bedford Bearcat Stadium. This matchup, the 18th in their storied history, promises another thrilling chapter in this fiercely competitive series.

Mentor, the undefeated top seed in Division I, has dominated opponents this season, including a 95-7 point margin in three playoff games. Quarterback Scotty Fox and running back Jackson Farley lead their explosive offense, with Fox passing for 2,638 yards and 33 touchdowns, while Farley has rushed for 1,782 yards and 22 scores. Their defense has been equally impressive, conceding just seven points throughout the playoffs.

St. Edward, despite an 8-5 record, is battle-tested from a grueling schedule featuring opponents like Hoban, Moeller, and Massillon, whose combined records stand at 56-6. The Eagles showcased resilience in their playoff run with decisive wins over Findlay, Toledo Whitmer, and Perrysburg. Quarterback Thomas Csanyi has spearheaded the offense with key contributions from receivers Luke Hess and Joseph Saffold, as well as running backs Bradley Eaton and Nate Gregory.

Coaches on both sides anticipate a tightly contested game. For Mentor, avoiding costly mistakes and maintaining consistency will be crucial, while St. Edward’s defense and multi-dimensional offense pose significant challenges. Turnovers and special teams could tilt the balance, especially if weather conditions, such as wind or rain, come into play.

With both teams prepared and their rivalry’s history of dramatic finishes, fans can expect another unforgettable encounter as the winner advances to the state final four.

🏈 Browns Stun Steelers with Snow-Covered Victory in AFC North Thriller

In a memorable snowstorm showdown Thursday night, the Cleveland Browns (3-8) upset the AFC North-leading Pittsburgh Steelers (8-3) with a dramatic 24-19 victory. The win, while not salvaging their playoff hopes, provided a bright spot in an otherwise challenging season.

Quarterback Jameis Winston led a clutch final drive through near-whiteout conditions, connecting with Jerry Jeudy for crucial completions before Nick Chubb punched in the winning touchdown with 57 seconds remaining. Winston finished with 219 passing yards and added a rushing touchdown.

The Browns' defense, led by Myles Garrett's three first-half sacks, dominated early as Cleveland built an 18-6 fourth-quarter lead. Pittsburgh mounted a comeback behind Russell Wilson and Justin Fields, taking a late 19-18 lead on Calvin Austin III's 23-yard touchdown reception.

However, the Browns' resilience showed in the final minutes. After a Steelers punt traveled just 16 yards in the brutal conditions, Cleveland capitalized on the excellent field position for their game-winning drive. The victory delighted the hardy fans who braved the blizzard conditions at Cleveland Browns Stadium.
