📰 Top Young Professionals in Lake County to Be Celebrated January 23
The United Way of Lake County (UWLC) has announced the recipients of its Sixth Annual Emerging Leaders 4 Under 40 Awards, recognizing outstanding young professionals in the community. The honorees will be celebrated on January 23 at The Everly in Mentor during an evening event from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
This year's winners include Kathryn Baden, CEO of Olympus Aerospace; Rochelle Fowler, process specialist at The Lubrizol Corp.; Kerry Jonke, manager of customer experience at Laketran; and Francisco Veloz, president of Veloz Landscape and Nursery.
The awards highlight individuals between the ages of 21 and 40 who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, community involvement, entrepreneurship, and professional achievements. Candidates were nominated by members of the public and evaluated through a confidential scoring process.
Tickets for the event are available to the public, priced at $55 per person. Members of Emerging Leaders and Women United can purchase tickets at a discounted rate of $45, while those under 21 pay $30.
The evening will not only celebrate the winners but also emphasize the significant contributions young professionals make to the region’s growth and success. Those interested in joining UWLC's Emerging Leaders group, which focuses on volunteerism and community impact, are encouraged to explore membership opportunities.

🎉 Happy Noon Year’s Eve Party: A Celebration for Children
Kids Celebrate ‘Noon’ Year’s Eve at the Main Branch of the Mentor Public Library!
Children can enjoy a festive New Year’s Eve celebration without staying up late at the Happy Noon Year program, hosted by the Main Branch on Tuesday, Dec. 31, from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15pm. This family-friendly event invites kids aged three to ten to dress up and join the fun. The program will feature lively music, exciting games, dancing, tasty snacks, and a thrilling balloon drop to ring in the “Noon Year.”
Attendance is free, but space is limited, so families are encouraged to register in advance. Registration is available online or by calling (440) 255-8811 ext. 3.

Meanwhile, Cornerstone Christian, which had been riding a dominant 16-game home winning streak, saw their streak come to an end with the loss, also bringing their record to 7-1. Lake Catholic will look to continue their momentum when they face Mayfield at 2:00 p.m. on Monday.
