💡 Electrical Safety First: Know When to DIY and When to Call a Pro
In today’s world, where DIY projects are just a YouTube tutorial away, it might be tempting to handle electrical tasks yourself. However, electrical work is not only intricate but also potentially dangerous if not handled properly. Here’s a brief guide on understanding when to call a professional and a helpful tip for Mentor homeowners.
When to Call a Professional Electrical installations, repairs, and upgrades often require specialized knowledge and tools. Here are key scenarios when you should definitely call in a professional:
New Installations: Whether it’s adding new outlets or setting up a home theater system, new electrical installations should meet local code requirements. Professionals ensure that everything is up to code and safely integrated with your home’s existing electrical system.
Major Repairs: If you’re experiencing frequent breaker trips, flickering lights, or you have outlets that are hot to the touch, these could be signs of underlying issues that need expert attention. Such problems can pose fire hazards and should be addressed immediately by a certified electrician.
Upgrades: Upgrading your home’s electrical panel or wiring is a significant task that involves a thorough understanding of electrical systems. This is crucial for older homes to accommodate modern appliances and electronics safely.
Helpful Hint for Homeowners For a simple but effective way to enhance your home’s electrical safety, consider installing Arc Fault Circuit Interrupters (AFCIs). These devices are designed to prevent fires by detecting potentially hazardous arc-faults caused by damaged or deteriorated wires and terminals. AFCIs can be a game-changer in older homes where wiring may not have been inspected for years.
Remember, while minor tasks like replacing a light bulb or a standard switch can be done DIY, anything that involves new wiring, major repairs, or replacements should be left to the pros. This ensures your safety and compliance with local electrical codes. By keeping these tips in mind, Mentor homeowners can ensure their homes are safe and sound, electrically speaking.

🏀 Cavaliers Soar to 10th Straight Win, Topple Hornets 115-105
The Cleveland Cavaliers secured a 115-105 victory over the Charlotte Hornets on Sunday night, extending their impressive winning streak to 10 games. Darius Garland led the effort with 25 points, while Jarrett Allen contributed a double-double of 19 points and 11 rebounds. Donovan Mitchell added 17 of his 19 points in the second half, and Evan Mobley chipped in 17 points as well.
The Cavaliers, who boast the NBA’s best record at 31-4, continued their dominance at home, winning for the 18th time in 19 home games this season. All 10 victories in their streak have been by double digits, setting a new franchise record. Cleveland hasn’t lost since Dec. 8 and remains nearly unbeatable at home, with their only loss there coming on Nov. 27 against Atlanta.
Charlotte's LaMelo Ball and Brandon Miller each scored 24 points in their return after missing three games due to ankle injuries, and Nick Smith Jr. added 18 points off the bench. Despite their efforts, the Hornets suffered their 10th consecutive loss and are now 1-18 since late November.
A critical turning point came in the second quarter when Cleveland surged with a 24-6 run, led by Allen and Mobley, building a commanding 53-29 lead. Allen recorded five points and four rebounds during the run, while Mobley added seven points to the effort.
Historically, Cleveland’s record through 35 games is among the best in NBA history, surpassed only by four legendary teams. Meanwhile, starting forward Isaac Okoro, sidelined since December due to a shoulder injury, has been cleared to resume full practices.
The Hornets will host Phoenix on Tuesday, while the Cavaliers prepare to face Western Conference leader Oklahoma City at home on Wednesday.
