āļø Winter Weather Hits Northeast Ohio: Snowfall Expected Through Saturday
Northeast Ohio is bracing for a system snow event that will spread across the region from southwest to northeast, beginning late Friday and continuing overnight into Saturday morning. With temperatures in the 20s, the snow is expected to stick to roads, sidewalks, and driveways, creating challenging travel conditions.
By midday Saturday, the region is likely to see snowfall totals ranging from 1 to 4 inches. In the afternoon, the system snow will transition to lake-effect snow, concentrated in the snowbelt areas, where a few additional inches may accumulate. Elsewhere in Northeast Ohio, skies will remain mostly cloudy with chilly highs around 30 degrees.
Sunday offers a break from the snow, with dry weather and temperatures edging into the low 30s. However, snow chances return Monday, though the snowfall is expected to be scattered and less impactful. Highs will once again approach freezing.
By Tuesday, a significant drop in temperatures will usher in a much colder air mass, with highs only in the teens. Lake-effect snow is expected to accompany the bitter chill. The snowy, cold pattern continues into Wednesday, but some moderation in temperatures may arrive by next weekend.
āļø ODOT: Winter Safety Starts with Clearing Snow and Ice Off Your Vehicle

ODOT Reminds Ohio Drivers to Prepare for Winter Weather
The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) is urging drivers to prioritize safety as winter weather arrives. Clearing snow and ice from windows, lights, and license plates is crucial for visibility and legally required under Ohio Revised Code Section 4503.21. Failing to clear license plates can result in a misdemeanor.
While driving with snow or ice on a vehicleās roof is legal, drivers may be held liable if it falls off and causes damage or injury. The Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) emphasizes that fully clearing vehicles can prevent accidents.
Last winter, Ohio recorded 8,104 crashes on snow-covered roads, including 15 fatalities. Drivers are advised to slow down, increase following distances, and turn on headlights when using windshield wipers, as required by law.
If a vehicle breaks down or gets stuck, OSHP recommends turning on hazard lights, moving off the road, and calling #677 or 911. Clearing snow from the tailpipe is also critical to avoid carbon monoxide poisoning.
For more safety tips, visit ODOTās website or contact a local OSHP office.

š Cavs' Winning Formula: Depth Powers 12-Game Streak
The Cleveland Cavaliers' recent 132-126 victory over the Toronto Raptors extended their league-best winning streak to 12 games. While such a dominant run might suggest that a star like Donovan Mitchell is carrying the team, the truth is far more collective. The Cavsā success has been built on their depth and a balanced approach, with their bench playing a pivotal role throughout the streak.
Under head coach Kenny Atkinson, Cleveland has relied on strategic lineup rotations rather than leaning solely on their starting five or bench players. By ensuring at least one star is always on the court, Atkinson maximizes the team's performance, allowing role players to gel seamlessly with stars while keeping opponents under constant pressure.
This approach also provides crucial benefits as the season progresses. Key players get in-game rest, maintaining their energy levels for the season's latter stages, particularly the playoffs. Moreover, the Cavsā depth enables them to adjust during games, giving them an edge even when their starters struggle.
The bench has been especially impactful in big moments, as highlighted in their recent win against the Oklahoma City Thunder. While Darius Garland, Evan Mobley, and Jarrett Allen delivered strong performances, the Thunderās focus on Mitchell called for a boost from Cleveland's reserves. Players like Ty Jerome and Max Strus stepped up, combining for 32 points and hitting critical shots that broke open the game.
Defensive contributions were also key, with Isaac Okoro showcasing his versatility on both ends of the floor. Veterans Caris LeVert and Georges Niang added scoring and utilized their shooting ability to stretch the Thunderās defense. Altogether, seven Cavaliers scored in double figures, underscoring their collective strength.
As Clevelandās streak continues, their reliance on depth and balanced contributions positions them as a formidable contender. The Cavs have proven that their bench is not just a supplement but a critical component of their success, ensuring they remain a powerhouse in the NBA.

š Mentorās Second-Half Push Not Enough to Stop Brunswickās Scoring Runs
Mentorās journey on Friday night was a tough lesson in resilience and focus as Brunswick pulled away for an 85-65 victory. Despite their determination, the Cardinals couldnāt contain the Blue Devilsā explosive offense, particularly during critical scoring runs.
Early in the game, Mentor faced challenges as Brunswickās offense began clicking. Although the Blue Devils started with a few misses, they quickly found their rhythm after a timeout just 90 seconds in. Aiden Shaker and Trey Drexler emerged as unstoppable forces, with Shaker scoring nine of Brunswickās first 11 points and helping them to a commanding 22-11 first-quarter lead. Drexlerās precision from beyond the arc and his role as a floor general further widened the gap, giving the Blue Devils a 50-29 lead at halftime.
Mentor showed flashes of promise in the second half, with freshman point guard Jack Kennedy spearheading a 20-9 run that trimmed the deficit to 10 points late in the third quarter. However, Brunswickās ability to regroup, highlighted by a swift 5-0 run to close the third and a 13-2 surge early in the fourth, proved decisive.
Kennedy led the Cardinals with 21 points, but it wasnāt enough to overcome Brunswickās balanced attack. Shaker and Drexler combined for 49 points, exemplifying their teamās dominance. For Mentor, this game underscored the importance of consistent focus and defense in the battles ahead.
