📰 Lake Catholic’s Strategic Plan Focuses on Academics, Faith, and Community
Lake Catholic High School has unveiled a strategic plan, "Creating Extraordinary Futures," to guide the school’s development over the coming years. The plan is the product of an 18-month collaboration with students, parents, alumni, faculty, and community members, aimed at shaping a comprehensive vision for the school’s future.
Endorsed by the Diocese of Cleveland and the Lake Catholic Advisory Board, the plan focuses on eight key areas: academics, Catholic identity, advancement, enrollment, facilities, finance, governance, and student life. The initiative was developed with input from community stakeholders and crafted in partnership with Partners in Mission, a Catholic education consulting firm.
The strategic plan is designed to ensure Lake Catholic remains a leader in academic excellence, spiritual growth, and community engagement. It emphasizes holistic development, addressing not only students' intellectual growth but also their spiritual, social, and emotional well-being.
Key goals include enhancing academic programs, fostering stronger connections within the community, increasing enrollment, and ensuring long-term sustainability in finances and facilities. Each area has been carefully analyzed to align with the school’s mission and tradition, while preparing students for lives rooted in purpose and guided by Catholic values.
The strategic plan will serve as a "living document," evolving to meet the needs of the school and its community while remaining grounded in its core values.

🐩 Separation Anxiety? How to Help Your Dog Feel More Comfortable Alone
How to Entertain a Dog Alone at Home
Leaving your dog home alone can be tough, both for you and them. But with a little preparation, you can ensure your dog stays engaged and entertained. According to pet experts, mental stimulation and physical activity are key.
Interactive Toys: Toys that dispense treats or require problem-solving are great for keeping your dog busy. Consider puzzle toys or treat-dispensing balls that engage their minds.
Chew Toys: A long-lasting chew toy can keep your dog entertained for hours and is also great for dental health.
Set Up a Play Area: If you have space, create a designated area with their favorite toys, a comfy bed, and even a window they can look out of. This provides a sense of comfort and familiarity.
Leave Background Noise: Some dogs feel more secure with background noise, like a TV or music. It can make them feel less lonely and distract them from outside noises.
Exercise Before Leaving: A good walk or play session before you head out can tire your dog out, making them more likely to relax while you're gone.
By setting up these activities, you can ease your dog’s separation anxiety and keep them entertained while you're away.
🏀 Lady Cardinals Defeat Lakewood 57-43, Ready for Postseason Push
Mentor’s Lady Cardinals defeated the Lakewood Rangers 57-43 in their final regular-season game, improving to 16-6 overall (8-4 in conference). With a solid performance on both offense and defense, Mentor capped off their season in style and now turns its attention to the postseason tournament.
🏀 Cavaliers Crush Raptors 131-108, Enter All-Star Break on High Note
The Cleveland Cavaliers surged to an early lead and cruised to a 131-108 victory over the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday night, capping off a four-game season sweep. Cleveland’s dominant performance was fueled by a balanced scoring effort and a suffocating defense that put the game out of reach early.
All-Star guard Donovan Mitchell led the Cavaliers with 21 points, while big men Evan Mobley (12 points, 15 rebounds) and Jarrett Allen (13 points, 10 rebounds) both recorded double-doubles. Cleveland’s deep roster showcased its strength, with key contributions across the lineup helping the Cavs secure their fourth straight win.
Toronto’s RJ Barrett made an impressive return after missing four games due to concussion protocol, pacing the Raptors with 27 points, four rebounds, and four assists. Scottie Barnes added 16 points, 11 rebounds, and seven assists in a strong all-around effort.
The Cavaliers jumped out to a commanding 41-17 lead in the first quarter and extended their advantage to 68-43 by halftime. By the third quarter, Cleveland’s lead ballooned to 39 points, leaving Toronto with little chance of a comeback.
Both teams now head into the All-Star break. The Raptors will have just one representative in the Rising Stars Game, while Cleveland’s Mitchell, Mobley, and Darius Garland were all selected to the All-Star Game, with head coach Kenny Atkinson also representing the Cavs.
The Cavaliers return to action against the Brooklyn Nets on the road on February 20.
