❄️ Winter Storm Brings Snow, Ice, and Heavy Rain This Weekend
Snow moves in early Saturday and continues through midday, bringing 1 to 3 inches of accumulation before turning to ice and rain in the afternoon. Rain becomes heavier Saturday night, with localized flooding possible south of Cleveland. By Sunday afternoon, the rain changes back to snow, adding another 1 to 3 inches through Monday morning. Arctic air follows, with dangerously cold wind chills below zero next week. Tuesday morning we may be looking at wind chills of 10 degrees below zero.
📰 Scott Marn Apologizes, Denies Slur Amid Council Pressure to Resign
Mentor City Councilman Scott Marn is facing backlash after a 2024 altercation outside Buffalo Wild Wings, where witnesses claim he used a racial slur during a confrontation with 26-year-old Tony Q. Jackson-Davis. Body camera footage captured a woman at the scene alleging Marn used the N-word. Jackson-Davis admitted to assaulting Marn and was later sentenced to four to six years in prison.
Marn denies using the slur, stating his account of the night has been "consistent and truthful," but acknowledged he could have responded differently. Following a recent meeting with the Lake County NAACP, Marn pledged to undergo implicit bias training and expressed regret for reacting in an "emotionally charged and frightened state."
Next week, Mentor City Council is expected to call for Marn’s resignation, citing "gross misconduct and a violation of his oath of office." This comes after an unrelated lawsuit was filed last month against Marn and other council members, alleging retaliation and sexual harassment.

🏪 Lake Cabinet & Flooring: Nearly 70 Years of Excellence in Mentor

Lake Cabinet & Flooring Inc.: A Legacy of Craftsmanship and Trust in Mentor
For nearly 70 years, Lake Cabinet & Flooring Inc. has been a trusted name in home remodeling in Mentor, Ohio. Family-owned since 1955, the company has built a reputation for quality craftsmanship, honest service, and a personalized touch. Located at 7354 Mentor Avenue, it’s a rare one-stop shop for kitchen and bath renovations, handling everything from design to installation under one roof.
From Humble Beginnings to Full-Service Renovation
Lake Cabinet & Flooring started with Thomas Gerbic’s grandfather, who initially repaired garage doors and built wooden crates. By the late 1950s, he expanded into cabinetry and countertops, adding flooring and carpeting in the following decade. Today, under third-generation leadership, the company continues to uphold its founding values: treat customers well, do quality work, and offer fair pricing.
Unlike many home improvement businesses, Lake Cabinet & Flooring manages every aspect of the renovation process in-house, eliminating the need for multiple contractors. “We take care of all the scheduling and materials for our customers,” says Gerbic, ensuring a seamless experience from start to finish.
Experienced Team and Personalized Service
The company’s skilled team is a significant factor in its success. Most employees have over 30 years of experience, and since they’re paid hourly—not on commission—the focus remains on precision and quality. This dedication has helped build lasting relationships, with many second- and third-generation customers returning for multiple projects.
Lake Cabinet & Flooring also sets itself apart by avoiding gimmicks. “We’re honest about pricing and pass savings directly to customers when manufacturers offer discounts,” Gerbic explains. The company’s size allows for personalized service that large retailers can’t match.
Community Connection and Future Growth
Deeply rooted in the Mentor community, Lake Cabinet & Flooring frequently supports local initiatives and partnerships with area builders. While steeped in tradition, the company embraces modern trends such as quartz countertops and contemporary designs. Future plans include expanding services to help builders streamline their projects.
Despite these updates, the core mission remains unchanged: delivering quality work and treating people right. These values have sustained the company for nearly seven decades and will guide its future growth.
For more information, visit www.lakecabinet.com or stop by the showroom at 7354 Mentor Avenue. Business hours are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Thursday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
