🏠 Mentor Resumes Rental Inspection Program to Ensure Property Standards

The City of Mentor has restarted its rental inspection program, which had been on hold since the pandemic. As of September 1, inspections are once again being conducted to ensure that rental properties meet safety and maintenance standards.

This program aims to maintain habitable living conditions, protect tenants, and uphold the city's Property Maintenance Codes. By enforcing these standards, the city hopes to preserve housing quality and promote safe interiors for renters.

Property owners and tenants with questions can visit the city's Code Enforcement / Property Maintenance page or contact Code Enforcement Officer Glen Benedict at (440) 974-5740 for more information.

🍏 The Biggest Wellness Trends of 2025: A Simpler, More Sustainable Approach

Wellness is evolving, and in 2025, the focus is shifting away from extreme routines and toward more balanced, realistic habits. With the global wellness market booming—now four times larger than the pharmaceutical industry—it's easy to feel overwhelmed by the constant stream of new trends. But this year, the emphasis is on simplicity, connection, and sustainable self-care.

Here are the key wellness trends set to shape the year ahead:

1. Social Wellness: The Power of Community

Gone are the days of solo workouts; group fitness is taking center stage. Whether it’s running clubs, social sauna sessions, or team-based competitions, people are craving connection in their wellness routines. Science backs this up—human interaction boosts emotional well-being and reduces stress, making community-driven activities an essential part of a healthier lifestyle.

2. Prioritizing Sleep with Evening Rituals

Forget the 5 AM wake-up calls—2025 is all about winding down at night. Evening routines, including meditation, breathwork, and digital detoxes, are gaining traction as people recognize the importance of quality sleep. Experts suggest dimming the lights, avoiding screens before bed, and practicing relaxation techniques to optimize rest and recovery.

3. Tech-Driven Wellness

AI and smart devices are making personalized wellness more accessible than ever. From fitness coaching apps to at-home skincare devices, technology is revolutionizing self-care routines. However, experts caution against relying too heavily on algorithms, emphasizing the importance of combining tech-driven solutions with human expertise.

4. The Rise of Fibre-Focused Nutrition

While protein has dominated nutrition conversations in recent years, fibre is now taking the spotlight. Essential for gut health, digestion, and overall well-being, fibre-rich foods—such as fruits, vegetables, nuts, and whole grains—are becoming a key focus. Experts recommend incorporating a variety of plant-based foods into daily diets for optimal benefits.

5. The Growing Popularity of Functional Mushrooms

Mushroom-based supplements are gaining mainstream attention for their potential benefits, including immune support, stress reduction, and cognitive enhancement. As more natural wellness solutions gain traction, functional mushrooms are becoming a staple in health-conscious routines.

6. Managing Stress with Mindful Practices

With burnout on the rise, stress management is taking priority. Practices like journaling, breathwork, and sound baths are becoming more popular, helping individuals slow down and create moments of calm in their busy lives.

7. A Return to the Basics

Amid the overwhelming world of wellness trends, 2025 is about simplifying self-care. Experts predict a shift away from extreme fads toward mindful, flexible approaches to nutrition, exercise, and mental well-being. The key takeaway? Listen to your body, focus on what feels good, and embrace balance over perfection.

As wellness continues to evolve, the most important trend of all may be finding what truly works for you—without the pressure of keeping up with the latest fads.

🏀 Cavaliers Dominate Magic 122-82 Despite Missing Garland, Quiet Night from Mitchell

The Cleveland Cavaliers delivered a commanding 122-82 victory over the Orlando Magic on Tuesday, despite being without Darius Garland and an off night from Donovan Mitchell.

Garland, the team's second-leading scorer, was sidelined due to a hip injury, while Mitchell managed just 11 points. However, Cleveland showed its depth, with five players scoring in double figures. Ty Jerome led the charge off the bench with 20 points, while Evan Mobley, Max Strus, and De'Andre Hunter each added 17.

The dominant win was a testament to the Cavs' growth since last season when they needed seven games to eliminate the Magic in the first round of the playoffs. As the postseason approaches, Cleveland's ability to win in different ways without relying solely on its stars is an encouraging sign for fans.
