🛟 Mentor Police Officers Recognized for Saving Man’s Life After Crash

Mentor Heroes
Three Mentor Police officers were recognized for their quick and decisive actions that saved a man's life following a serious medical emergency and crash. Patrolmen Ryan Heramb, Jacob Jones, and Jacob Hendrickson received the Lake County Association of Chiefs of Police Life Saving Award at the organization's March 5, 2025, meeting.
The honor stems from an incident on October 19, 2024, when the officers responded to a crash on Argee Drive. A 42-year-old man, driving northbound with his 10-year-old son, suffered a medical emergency that caused his vehicle to leave the roadway and strike two trees.
Patrolman Jones was the first on the scene and quickly identified that the driver was in cardiac distress. Without hesitation, he began performing chest compressions. Shortly after, Patrolmen Heramb and Hendrickson arrived, and the three officers took turns administering CPR for about five minutes until Mentor Rescue arrived.
The driver was rushed to Cleveland Clinic Main Campus, where he underwent quadruple bypass surgery and made a full recovery. Thanks to the swift response and teamwork of these officers, a life was saved. Thank you to our local heroes for all they do on a daily basis!!

🏠 Enhance Your Home’s First Impression: Curb Appeal Tips That Work

iStock
Enhancing your home's curb appeal is one of the most effective ways to make a lasting first impression. Whether you're preparing to sell or simply want to take pride in a beautiful exterior, small improvements can make a significant impact. A well-maintained home exterior not only increases property value but also creates a welcoming atmosphere for residents and guests alike.
Studies have shown that homes with strong curb appeal tend to sell faster and at higher prices than those with neglected exteriors. Investing in upgrades such as fresh paint, landscaping, and updated fixtures can yield a significant return on investment, often increasing property value by up to 7%. But beyond financial benefits, a visually appealing home enhances the homeowner’s daily experience, fostering a sense of pride and enjoyment.
If you're looking to refresh your home’s exterior, here are five must-do improvements to boost curb appeal.
1. Refresh the Exterior with a New Coat of Paint
One of the most transformative and cost-effective upgrades is repainting your home’s exterior. A fresh coat of paint instantly revitalizes the look of your house, making it appear newer and well-maintained. When choosing a color, consider your home’s architectural style and the surrounding landscape to create a cohesive look. High-quality, weather-resistant paint ensures long-lasting durability while protecting your home from the elements.
2. Enhance Landscaping for a Lush, Inviting Look
A well-manicured lawn and thoughtfully designed landscaping can significantly boost curb appeal. Regular maintenance, such as mowing, trimming, and adding seasonal flowers, creates an inviting and polished look. Consider incorporating native plants for easy upkeep and eco-friendly benefits. Strategic landscaping can also highlight architectural features or provide coverage for less appealing areas of the property.
3. Upgrade Your Front Door for a Bold Statement
Your front door serves as the focal point of your home’s exterior. A simple upgrade—such as painting it in a bold, welcoming color or replacing it with a new door—can make a striking impact. Adding stylish hardware, such as modern handles and smart locks, enhances both aesthetics and security. To elevate the entryway further, consider sidelights or a decorative transom to bring in natural light.
4. Install Outdoor Lighting for Safety and Ambiance
Outdoor lighting not only enhances security but also highlights the beauty of your home after dark. Well-placed lights can illuminate pathways, showcase landscaping elements, and create a warm and inviting atmosphere. Solar-powered lights offer an energy-efficient solution, while string lights or lanterns add charm to porches and patios.
5. Update Hardware for a Modern Touch
Small details, such as house numbers, mailboxes, door handles, and light fixtures, can significantly enhance your home’s exterior. Swapping outdated hardware for modern, cohesive designs creates a polished and stylish look. Choose durable, weather-resistant materials to ensure longevity and minimal maintenance.
By making these simple yet effective upgrades, homeowners can create a visually appealing and well-maintained exterior that adds value to the property and enhances daily living. Whether for resale purposes or personal satisfaction, investing in curb appeal is a worthwhile endeavor.

🏀 Sources: Eagles Trade Kenny Pickett to Browns in Quarterback Swap
The Philadelphia Eagles are making a quarterback change, sending Kenny Pickett to the Cleveland Browns in exchange for a 2025 fifth-round draft pick and quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson. The deal, reported Monday, reshapes the depth chart for both teams.
Pickett spent last season as the Eagles' backup to Jalen Hurts during their Super Bowl-winning campaign. Philadelphia originally brought him in through a trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers last offseason.
In Cleveland, Pickett will have an opportunity to compete for the starting role. The Browns are managing uncertainty at quarterback, with Deshaun Watson still recovering from a torn Achilles and Jameis Winston currently a free agent. The team is also expected to target a quarterback in next month's NFL Draft.
