Photo: The Wholesome Dish

Shepherd’s Pie is a hearty and comforting dish made with seasoned ground meat, vegetables, and a rich gravy, all topped with creamy, cheesy mashed potatoes and baked to golden perfection. Traditionally, true Shepherd’s Pie is made with ground lamb, while Cottage Pie is the variation that uses ground beef.

This recipe is versatile—you can choose between beef or lamb depending on your preference. 🏀 Evan Mobley Leads Cavaliers to Franchise-Record 16th Straight Victory

The Cleveland Cavaliers made history Friday night, securing their franchise-record 16th consecutive victory with a 133-124 win over the Memphis Grizzlies. Despite missing star guard Donovan Mitchell due to groin soreness, the Cavaliers found plenty of firepower to extend their streak.

Evan Mobley led the way with 22 points and 11 rebounds, while Darius Garland added 20 points and nine assists. De'Andre Hunter and Jarrett Allen also contributed with 18 and 16 points, respectively. The win moves Cleveland further ahead as the top team in the Eastern Conference and marks their 26th road victory of the season—tying for the second-most in franchise history.

For Memphis, Ja Morant put on a show with a season-high 44 points, along with eight rebounds and seven assists. Jaren Jackson Jr. returned to the lineup after missing five games with an ankle injury, finishing with 13 points alongside Brandon Clarke.

Cleveland took control in the second quarter, launching a 23-9 scoring run that widened the gap. The Cavaliers return home to face the Orlando Magic on Sunday.

🐟 Spring Fishing in Northern Ohio: Big Catches, Shifting Weather, and New Challenges

Spring Fishing Kicks Off in Northern Ohio Amid Unpredictable Weather
As temperatures fluctuate, fishermen in Northern Ohio are preparing their boats and gear for spring fishing. A brief window of calm weather earlier this week allowed some anglers to head out on Lake Erie, resulting in strong walleye catches. The highlight was a massive 50-inch muskellunge reeled in by Iowa angler Spencer Griffith while fishing with Capt. Sam Downing. The muskie, with a 25.5-inch girth, was quickly photographed and released.

However, shifting northeast winds later in the week stirred up rough, muddy waters, slowing down fishing activity. A warm spell this weekend may bring another chance for anglers, but caution is advised due to cold water temperatures, rain, and storms. Trolling with diving plugs remains the top tactic for walleye.

Steelhead and Rainbow Trout Biting
Steelhead season is picking up in Northeast Ohio, with fair catches reported in the Rocky and Chagrin rivers. The Grand River remains muddy, but the Vermilion, Ashtabula, and Conneaut Creek are producing trout. Meanwhile, Cleveland Metroparks lakes and ponds are ice-free, and stocked rainbow trout are becoming more active. Anglers are having success with small jigs, maggots, PowerBait, and in-line spinners.

Algal Bloom Monitoring Suspended
NOAA has halted weekly updates on harmful algal blooms (HABs) in Lake Erie due to budget cuts, raising concerns for boaters and anglers. Rep. Marcy Kaptur of Toledo highlighted the importance of these reports, recalling the 2014 HAB event that left parts of Northeast Ohio without safe drinking water.

With spring fishing in full swing, anglers must navigate not only changing weather but also reduced environmental monitoring.
