💓 ‘Forever Grateful’: Family Honors Strangers Who Pulled Father from Burning Truck

A Geneva family is filled with gratitude after five Good Samaritans stepped in to save 65-year-old Mario Talarico following a violent crash last week on I-90 in Lake County.

Talarico was thrown from his truck after it flipped multiple times. He wasn’t wearing a seatbelt and was ejected nearly 18 feet before the vehicle burst into flames.

His daughters, Lisa Adams and Kristen Pecnik, learned of the crash through a photo on social media. They rushed to the hospital, fearing the worst, but were relieved to find their father alert and responsive, though he had no memory of the accident.

Soon after, they learned five strangers had pulled over to help. The group moved Talarico a safe distance from the burning wreckage, just before it exploded. A corrections officer comforted him while another man placed a shirt under his bleeding head.

The family was touched by the kindness of those who treated their father like one of their own. When they later visited the crash site, they found his favorite hat and an untouched American flag from the dashboard—both mysteriously unharmed.

Now back home, Talarico is recovering. His family hopes to meet the strangers who saved him, and the Lake County Sheriff’s Office is still working to identify them.

🏀 Durant’s 42 Pushes Suns Past Skidding Cavs

Kevin Durant scored 42 points to power the Phoenix Suns past the Cleveland Cavaliers, 123-112, on Friday night. The victory marked Phoenix’s third straight win, keeping them tied with Dallas for the final Western Conference play-in spot at 34-37.

Devin Booker had 17 points, Tyus Jones added 16, and Royce O’Neale hit five threes for 15 points. Despite missing Bradley Beal, Nick Richards, and Mason Plumlee, the Suns stayed in control behind a strong team effort. Third-string center Oso Ighodaro played 44 minutes and grabbed 13 rebounds.

Cleveland has now lost four straight after a 16-game winning streak. At 56-14, they still lead the East but are two games behind Oklahoma City for the NBA’s top record. Darius Garland scored 18, Evan Mobley had 16 points and 12 rebounds, and Ty Jerome added 16. Donovan Mitchell struggled, finishing with just seven points on 2-of-18 shooting, missing all eight of his three-point attempts.

Phoenix took control early in the second quarter with consecutive threes from O’Neale, leading 62-51 at halftime and never looking back. The Cavs continue their road trip in Utah on Sunday.

🏈 Browns Build in Trenches, Face Big Decision at No. 2 in 2025 NFL Draft

As the initial surge of the 2025 NFL free agency period winds down, the Cleveland Browns have taken notable steps to reinforce key areas of their roster. Prioritizing depth along the trenches, the Browns added defensive end Joe Tryon-Shoyinka, defensive tackle Maliek Collins, and offensive tackle Cornelius Lucas. The team also re-signed linebacker Devin Bush and made a quarterback swap with the Philadelphia Eagles, acquiring Kenny Pickett in exchange for Dorian Thompson-Robinson and a 2025 fifth-round pick.

With foundational pieces added, attention now shifts toward the upcoming NFL Draft. The Browns hold the No. 2 overall selection, and analysts are split on which direction the team will take.

A majority of experts project the Browns selecting edge rusher Abdul Carter out of Penn State. Known for his explosiveness and relentless motor, Carter is seen as a natural complement to star defensive end Myles Garrett in Jim Schwartz’s aggressive defensive scheme. Draft insiders from ESPN, NFL.com, and CBS Sports all view Carter as a strong candidate, particularly if Cleveland opts to wait on drafting a quarterback until later rounds.

However, others believe the Browns should take a signal-caller with their top pick. Some mock drafts have Cleveland selecting Cam Ward from Miami, considered by some to be the top quarterback in this year's class. Another contender is Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders, praised for his leadership and poise. There’s also buzz surrounding his dynamic teammate, Travis Hunter—a rare two-way talent at both cornerback and wide receiver—whose versatility and playmaking could immediately impact both sides of the ball.

As the draft nears, the Browns' strategy remains fluid. With their offseason acquisitions providing a more stable foundation, the team now faces a pivotal choice at No. 2—one that could define their trajectory for years to come.
