Construction has officially begun on the 2025 Lake County YMCA Dream House, located on Kingfisher Court in a new Mentor development. Built by JEMM Construction, this year’s home features an open-concept kitchen with island seating, a first-floor primary suite, two upstairs bedrooms, and a flexible office space that can serve as a fourth bedroom.

Other highlights include a two-car garage, a covered porch, a large deck, and a finished entertainment area in the lower level.

Public tours will begin July 10. Ticket holders will also be entered to win a 2025 Chevrolet Equinox, valued at nearly $32,000, thanks to Classic Chevrolet and the Chevy Network.

The Dream House fundraiser supports YMCA programs that benefit youth and families across Lake County. All proceeds remain local. Tickets are available now, with a spring promotion running through April.

Arches National Park

Why You Should Visit Arches National Park

A trip to Arches National Park feels like stepping onto another world — one sculpted by time, wind, and the elements into a surreal landscape of soaring sandstone arches and deep red rock formations. Light dances across the terrain, shifting the look of the park hour by hour, offering a dynamic backdrop that keeps visitors constantly awestruck.

Photographers are especially captivated by the park’s visual magic, particularly at sunrise and sunset when long shadows stretch across the desert and the arches seem to glow. But Arches is far more than a visual feast; it’s a playground for explorers of all types.

Located just five miles from Moab, Utah, Arches National Park features 26 miles of scenic roadways and a wide range of hiking options. Casual visitors can take short strolls to iconic spots like Balanced Rock or Double Arch, while more adventurous hikers can venture into the twisting paths of the Fiery Furnace or tackle the climb to the world-famous Delicate Arch.

At night, the park offers a different kind of wonder. Thanks to its location on the Colorado Plateau, Arches boasts some of the darkest skies in the lower 48 states. With minimal light pollution, stargazers are treated to brilliant views of the Milky Way, making the park a prime destination for night photography and celestial observation.

Whether you're drawn by the natural formations, the chance to disconnect, or the opportunity to marvel at the stars, Arches National Park offers a truly otherworldly experience.

⚾ Guardians Blank Pirates Behind Lively Arms and Heads-Up Defense

After a tough end to their road trip in Baltimore, the Cleveland Guardians bounced back in impressive fashion with a dominant 3-0 shutout win over the Pittsburgh Pirates, taking down rising ace Paul Skenes in the process.

Ben Lively led the charge with 5 1/3 scoreless innings on the mound, skillfully navigating through trouble in the sixth before a timely double play turned by reliever Cade Smith helped preserve the lead. From there, the bullpen locked things down. Tim Herrin, Hunter Gaddis, and Emmanuel Clase combined to keep Pittsburgh off the board, with Clase sealing the win after a heads-up play by José Ramírez helped erase a potential run. After allowing a leadoff triple to Enmanuel Valdez, Ramírez quickly tagged him out when Valdez momentarily lifted his hand off the bag while signaling for time — a rare and alert move that snuffed out a threat.

Offensively, the Guardians pieced together just enough firepower to support the pitching. Nolan Jones finally saw results from his hard contact, going 2-for-4 with a double and a walk. Steven Kwan delivered a clutch RBI single, while Kyle Manzardo crushed a memorable shot into the Allegheny River. Angel Martinez continues to impress, making a strong case for everyday playing time, and Ramírez added to his defensive gem with a single and a sacrifice fly.

The win felt like a statement, coming against one of the most dominant young pitchers in baseball. With the series now within reach, Cleveland will look to complete the sweep on Easter Sunday behind starter Logan Allen as they face Mitch Keller — weather permitting. It was a crisp, efficient victory, and a satisfying way for fans to head into the holiday weekend.

⚽ Messi Mania Takes Over Cleveland as Inter Miami Tops Crew 1-0

Lionel Messi didn’t need to score a goal to leave a lasting impression on Cleveland. The global soccer icon drew a sold-out crowd of 60,614 to Huntington Bank Field on April 19, where Inter Miami edged out the Columbus Crew 1-0 in a tightly contested MLS matchup.

Though Miami is more than 1,200 miles away, fans in the Midwest turned out in droves to witness Messi in action — many of them donning his iconic No. 10 jersey. Messi’s mere presence transformed a regular season game into an unforgettable spectacle.

While the legendary forward didn’t tally on the scoresheet, he kept the Columbus defense on high alert throughout the night, drawing cheers every time he touched the ball. His performance included four shots, one on target, and five corner kicks, delivering moments that thrilled fans despite his name not appearing in the box score.

The lone goal came at the 30-minute mark, when Inter Miami’s Benjamin Cremaschi finished a well-placed cross from Marcelo Weigandt. The win preserved Miami’s unbeaten record (5-0-3), while handing the Crew (5-1-3) their first loss of the season. Both teams now sit tied for second place in the Eastern Conference standings, trailing Charlotte.

A week earlier, Messi played a full match in Chicago, where over 62,000 fans packed Soldier Field to watch a scoreless draw. Combined with Cleveland’s turnout, that’s nearly 123,000 fans across two games — none of whom saw Messi score, but all of whom walked away with lifelong memories.

Messi’s legacy speaks for itself: a World Cup title, two Copa Américas, four UEFA Champions League trophies, and 12 top-flight domestic league titles. In MLS, his impact goes beyond the stat sheet — he draws crowds, inspires young athletes, and elevates the league’s global stature.
