🚵 “Put A Lid On It” Campaign Expands: Ohio Ramps Up Bike Safety for Children
Ohio is stepping up its efforts to protect young cyclists by distributing 13,000 free bicycle helmets this summer through the "Put A Lid On It" campaign. Led by the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), the Ohio Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and American Honda Motor Company, the initiative aims to reduce injuries and fatalities among children.
Helmets are being provided through local partners including doctors’ offices, health departments, schools, and police stations. Since its launch in 2011, the campaign has distributed over 100,000 helmets and has become a leading force in promoting bike safety across the state.
The program also teaches proper helmet fitting and encourages safe riding habits. Its urgency is underscored by last year’s 1,337 bicycle-related crashes in Ohio, which included 23 fatalities and 189 serious injuries. Despite the proven effectiveness of helmets, only 10–20% of children in Ohio wear them regularly.
This campaign is part of ODOT’s broader mission to make biking and walking safer through education, outreach, and infrastructure improvements.

🏘️ WVU Eyes the Future: Freshman QB Scotty Fox Jr. Turning Heads in Morgantown
As spring football practice wraps up in Morgantown, West Virginia University is preparing for the 2025 season with a quarterback competition underway. Leading the race are redshirt junior Nicco Marchiol, a returner from the Neal Brown era, and redshirt senior Jaylen Henderson, a Texas A&M transfer brought in by new head coach Rich Rodriguez.
While those two are the frontrunners, a new name is drawing attention: Mentor High graduate, WVU freshman, Scotty Fox Jr. After enrolling early in January, Fox made a strong showing in the Gold-Blue Spring Showcase and has quickly become a topic of interest within the program.
Though currently managing a minor injury, Fox is expected to rise on the depth chart and could land the third-string spot this fall. Inside sources suggest the coaching staff views him as a long-term solution at quarterback.
A former standout at Mentor High School in Ohio, Fox threw for 2,759 yards and 34 touchdowns with a 64% completion rate in his senior year. He also added 321 rushing yards and seven touchdowns, showcasing his dual-threat capabilities. Rivals rated him a four-star recruit, while other services gave him three stars, but his early college performance is turning heads.

🏘️ Over One Million Homes Now on Market, Inventory Soars 31%
The U.S. housing market is experiencing a surge in home availability, marking the highest level of active listings since late 2019. According to Realtor.com’s latest data, active inventory climbed 31.1% compared to the same time last year, continuing a steady 78-week streak of annual increases.
For the first time in over five years, the number of homes on the market has surpassed the one-million mark, signaling a notable shift in the existing home market. Though total inventory is still 16.3% below the levels seen during the same month in the pre-pandemic years of 2017 to 2019, the recent trend indicates a robust recovery in housing supply.
In addition to more homes on the market, seller activity has picked up. New listings—homes newly put up for sale—increased by 9.3% year-over-year, the strongest weekly showing since mid-2022. This rebound suggests sellers are increasingly confident as the market heads into the late spring and early summer season.
Prices remain relatively stable, with the national median list price up 0.9% year-over-year, reflecting modest appreciation amid growing inventory.
This upswing in both inventory and new listings may bring welcome relief to buyers who have faced tight supply in recent years, while also signaling a potential rebalancing in the housing market dynamics.

🏀 Pacers Crush Cavs in Game 4 Blowout, Push Series to 3-1
The Cavaliers are on the verge of elimination after a lopsided 129-109 loss to the Indiana Pacers in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference semifinals. Indiana now leads the series 3-1, with Game 5 set for Tuesday in Ohio.
The Pacers set the tone early with a 22-10 start and never looked back, building a 41-point halftime lead—tying an NBA playoff record. They scored 80 first-half points on 60% shooting and totaled 25 assists.
Tensions flared in the first quarter when Bennedict Mathurin struck De’Andre Hunter, sparking an altercation. Mathurin was ejected, but the Pacers didn't miss a beat, outscoring the Cavs 38-23 in the opening frame and continuing their surge in the second.
Cleveland’s struggles worsened when Donovan Mitchell didn’t return after halftime due to an ankle injury sustained during warmups. He left with 12 points and is set to undergo an MRI.
Pascal Siakam led Indiana with 21 points on near-perfect shooting, while Myles Turner and Obi Toppin each added 20. Darius Garland scored 21 for Cleveland, which committed 22 turnovers and shot 43%.
Now facing a must-win scenario, the Cavaliers will need to regroup quickly or face an early playoff exit.

⚾ Schwarber, Wheeler Lift Phillies Over Guardians in 3-0 Victory
Kyle Schwarber powered the Philadelphia Phillies to a 3-0 win over the Cleveland Guardians Sunday night, blasting two home runs and extending his on-base streak to 46 games—the longest in MLB since 2022.
Schwarber hit a solo shot in the second inning and a two-run homer in the eighth, giving him 14 on the season and tying him for the league lead. It was his 32nd career multi-homer game.
Zack Wheeler delivered seven scoreless innings, striking out eight and allowing just three hits in his third consecutive win. José Alvarado and Jordan Romano completed the three-hit shutout, with Romano earning his third save.
Philadelphia has now won 11 of its last 14 games, finishing its road trip with a 5-1 record. Guardians starter Luis Ortiz struck out nine over six innings, but Cleveland's offense struggled. Reliever Tim Herrin gave up Schwarber’s second homer after walking one in the eighth.
The Guardians have dropped just 11 of 31 games since April 8 and now look ahead to a home series against Milwaukee.
