šŸ›£ļø Overnight Striping Set for State Route 2 in Lake County This Weekend

Overnight Pavement Striping Scheduled for State Route 2 in Lake County

The Lake County Engineer’s Office has scheduled overnight pavement striping work on State Route 2, set to take place across two consecutive nights. The work will begin at 7:00 PM on Friday, July 11, 2025, and continue through 7:00 AM the following morning. Crews will return the next evening, working from 7:00 PM on Saturday, July 12, until 7:00 AM on Sunday, July 13.

During this time, crews will apply straight-line and auxiliary pavement markings along the route, with all operations dependent on weather conditions.

Drivers traveling along State Route 2 during these hours should be cautious, as striping vehicles may be moving slowly or stationed near the median. Motorists are urged to reduce speed and move over where possible to ensure the safety of road crews.

Cleveland Stars as Metropolis in Upcoming Superman Film

Cleveland is taking center stage in the new Superman movie, set for release on July 11. Director James Gunn selected the city as the stand-in for Metropolis, praising its Art Deco architecture and vibrant local energy. Gunn noted that while cities like Cincinnati were considered, Cleveland’s unique look made it the ideal choice.

Filming last summer transformed landmarks like Public Square, Cleveland City Hall, and Progressive Field into key backdrops for major scenes. The trailer features striking visuals of downtown, including a collapsing building near the Detroit-Superior Bridge and a fight at the iconic Arcade.

In addition to Cleveland, Mentor Headlands Beach in Lake County was closed for several days during production, playing a role in the film’s expansive setting.

The movie follows Superman as he reconciles his alien identity with his human life. David Corenswet leads the cast, joined by Nicholas Hoult, Rachel Brosnahan, and others in a star-packed lineup.

šŸƒā€āž”ļø Wellness From Within: Most Americans Prioritize Feeling Good Over Looking Good

A growing number of Americans are focusing more on feeling good than looking good. According to a survey of 2,000 adults conducted by Talker Research for Metagenics, 77% now prioritize inner well-being over appearance — a clear sign of changing health values in 2025.

Nearly one-third of respondents have adopted more mindful health habits this year, becoming more aware of their body’s signals, emotions, and mental needs. Popular daily practices include getting enough sleep (50%), eating nourishing meals (49%), and engaging in physical activity that feels good (44%). Others are setting boundaries (38%), spending quality time with loved ones (38%), and being in nature (36%).

Gut health plays a central role in this wellness shift. Over three-quarters believe it affects their emotional state, and 86% see a strong connection between physical and mental health. As a result, 31% regularly take a probiotic or supplement, and 57% of non-users are open to it. Reported benefits include improved digestion (43%), reduced bloating (36%), better sleep (31%), more energy (29%), and better moods (27%).

People are also dropping habits that no longer serve them, such as mindless snacking (28%), staying up late (27%), and eating ultra-processed foods (26%). When not feeling their best, many opt for rest (45%), listening to music (30%), walking (29%), or alone time (24%) to reset.

Additionally, 42% discovered unexpectedly helpful wellness habits, and over half feel confident explaining gut health’s impact on overall well-being. This trend reflects a broader redefinition of health — one centered on how people feel rather than how they look, supported by small, intentional actions that improve life from the inside out.

⚾ Martínez's 10th-Inning Grand Slam Lifts Guardians Over Astros

Angel MartĆnez crushed a go-ahead grand slam in the 10th inning to lift the Cleveland Guardians over the Houston Astros, 10-6, on Tuesday night. The victory marked Cleveland’s second straight win after snapping a 10-game skid.

With the game tied in extras, Guardians loaded the bases off Astros closer Josh Hader. After a strikeout, MartĆnez sent a 344-foot homer into Houston’s Crawford Boxes, giving Cleveland the lead for good.

Earlier, JosĆ© RamĆrez hit a two-run homer in the first, and Brayan Rocchio sparked a third-inning surge that extended Cleveland’s lead to 5-1. Houston fought back behind Jose Altuve’s four-RBI night, tying the game 6-6 in the eighth.

Cleveland's Joey Cantillo struck out seven over four-plus innings, while Houston’s Hunter Brown gave up a season-high six runs. Jakob Junis earned the win in relief, and Emmanuel Clase pitched a clean 10th to close it out.

The win gave Cleveland its first back-to-back victories since June 22.

🧵 Faithful Fruits Boutique Brings Art, Heart, and Hair to Mentor’s Main Street

With handmade treasures, creative classes, and a faith-driven mission, this unique boutique is becoming a haven for local artists—and the community they serve.

MENTOR, Ohio — Nestled along the bustle of Mentor Avenue is a storefront unlike any other in town. At first glance, Faithful Fruits Hair and Handmade Boutique appears to be a charming boutique brimming with candles, beachy dĆ©cor, and gifts. But step inside, and you’ll quickly discover it’s also a studio, a salon, a gallery—and a testament to faith.

Founded in 2025 by a longtime hairstylist with a heart for handmade art, Faithful Fruits is the result of two passions woven together through prayer and purpose. ā€œI’ve been doing hair for 13 years, but I’ve always loved art,ā€ says the owner, Leah Curtis. ā€œIt all started after I did my first craft show. I realized there wasn’t a consistent place for local artists to display and sell their work. So, I started praying—and the Lord started opening doors.ā€

What began as a small idea quickly bloomed into something much larger. Today, Faithful Fruits is a full-service boutique that showcases handmade goods by local creators, offers salon services, and hosts creative classes for the community.

More Than a Boutique

Inside the shop at 7771 Mentor Ave., you’ll find an eclectic mix of gifts and goods—each one handmade, and each with a story. Among the most popular items are therapeutic lotus candles and Lake Erie-inspired beach dĆ©cor, created using sand, stones, and shells sourced from the lake itself. ā€œCustomers love that they can take a piece of the lake home with them,ā€ the owner says.

There’s also embroidered fabric art, painted pet and horse portraits, custom woodwork, concrete dĆ©cor, and even handcrafted items using resin, beads, and glass. ā€œWe have something for everyone,ā€ she says. ā€œWood, metal, fabric—you name it.ā€

A Space to Create, Not Just Shop

What truly sets Faithful Fruits apart is its interactive spirit. Beyond retail, the boutique offers workshops and creative classes, inviting customers to make their own art alongside skilled instructors. Whether it’s knitting, seasonal crafts, or beginner art sessions, the goal is to empower the community through creativity.

ā€œThese classes give people a chance to explore something new—and maybe discover a hidden talent,ā€ the owner shares. ā€œWe want to create an environment where people feel inspired and supported.ā€

It’s a vision that’s already resonating. ā€œThe feedback has been incredible,ā€ Leah adds. ā€œPeople are excited not just to shop, but to return and be part of something.ā€

Rooted in Faith and Community

True to its name, Faithful Fruits is a business grounded in faith. Leah is candid about how her spiritual journey has guided the entire process. ā€œThis wasn’t just my idea—it was His,ā€ she says. ā€œEvery artist who’s part of this shop came into my life at just the right time. It’s been such a blessing.ā€

That sense of divine timing and community care flows into every sale. ā€œEach purchase builds up a local artist,ā€ she says. ā€œAnd for me, that’s the best part—seeing someone gain confidence in their work because someone believed in it enough to take it home.ā€

Looking Ahead

With its official opening earlier this year, Faithful Fruits is just getting started. Expanded hours begin in July, and a full lineup of classes is in the works. The shop also takes custom orders for embroidery and painted portraits—personal touches that have already made waves among returning customers.

As the boutique continues to grow, its mission remains the same: create a space where art, beauty, and faith can flourish together.
