🚹 The Rest of the Story: Cleveland Man Arrested After Fleeing Police in Box Truck

Mentor Police Department

On Friday morning, July 11, 2025, a stolen U-Haul truck set off a FLOCK surveillance alert in Mentor, leading to a police pursuit through several city streets. The truck had been reported stolen from Cleveland the day before.

Mentor officers located the vehicle around 9:55 AM on Tyler Boulevard near SR-306. After briefly stopping, the driver sped off, heading west on Tyler, north on SR-306, and west onto Industrial Parkway. Since the road ends in a cul-de-sac, police searched nearby businesses, anticipating the vehicle would reappear.

Shortly after, the truck emerged from a business lot onto Palisades Parkway and turned north on SR-306. The Ohio State Highway Patrol joined the pursuit, with Mentor units assisting. The chase continued into Mentor-on-the-Lake, then west on Salida Road and south on Andrews Road, where the truck rear-ended a car and struck a McDonald’s sign.

The driver fled on foot but was quickly caught. He was identified as 36-year-old Rayvon Johnson of Cleveland. No injuries were reported.

Johnson was evaluated at Lake West Hospital and then booked into the Mentor jail. He faces multiple charges, including Receiving Stolen Property, Failure to Comply, Possession of Heroin, Possession of Drug Abuse Instruments, Driving with a Suspended License, Driving Without a License, and Reckless Operation. The case remains under investigation.

🏠 Back to the Future: 5 Retro Kitchen Trends Designers Are Loving Again

5 Once-Dated Kitchen Trends That Are Making a Stylish Comeback

After years of minimalist, modern kitchens dominating design magazines and renovation plans, a shift is underway. More homeowners are opting for warmth, personality, and nostalgia in their kitchen spaces. Design professionals say several formerly “outdated” trends are being reimagined and embraced again—this time with fresh, stylish updates. Here are five old-school kitchen design elements that are seeing a resurgence.

1. Unlacquered Brass Fixtures

Forget high-shine finishes—muted, matte unlacquered brass is returning as a favored material in kitchens. This type of brass develops a natural patina over time, adding depth and character to the space. It's also low-maintenance and works well in both modern and traditional kitchen designs, making it a versatile choice for hardware and faucets.

2. Rich, Deep Color Palettes

Neutral kitchens have long been a staple, but bold, dramatic hues are back. Deep navy, forest green, rich wood tones, and even moody purples are being used to give kitchens a more intimate, inviting atmosphere. These colors offer depth and are especially effective in homes with open-concept layouts that blend entertaining and cooking spaces.

3. Small Lamps for Soft Lighting

Lamps in the kitchen might sound unconventional, but they’re becoming a favorite tool for designers aiming to add cozy ambiance. A small table lamp placed under cabinets or in a corner can bring in warmth and soften harsh lighting. Pairing this with small artworks on the backsplash creates a layered, personalized look that elevates the space.

4. Colorful Appliances and Plumbing Fixtures

Neutral appliances are taking a backseat as colorful options rise in popularity. Brands are reintroducing vintage hues—like teal, soft green, and pale blue—to bring personality into kitchens. Colored sinks and plumbing fixtures are also making a statement, offering a cheerful alternative to standard stainless steel. However, designers emphasize that such choices should feel authentic to the homeowner's style, not just a passing trend.

5. The Return of White Appliances

Once considered outdated, white appliances are staging a comeback, albeit with a modern twist. Today’s models feature sleek designs and subtle gold accents, making them a chic alternative to the ubiquitous stainless steel. These updated versions blend nostalgia with current aesthetics, offering a clean, elegant look that suits a variety of kitchen styles.

⚟ Why Joe Flacco Is the Right Choice to Start the 2025 Season for the Browns

The Cleveland Browns enter the 2025 NFL season with uncertainty under center—but for once, that might be a good thing. With Deshaun Watson sidelined for the year due to injury, the quarterback picture is suddenly clearer, and veteran Joe Flacco emerges as the best immediate option.

Over the past five seasons, the Browns have experienced a rocky stretch at quarterback. Baker Mayfield held the starting role for three years before the highly criticized Deshaun Watson era began. Despite the controversy and poor results, Watson's role as the starter was rarely questioned—until now.

General Manager Andrew Berry has taken a bold approach to the situation by creating a quarterback-heavy roster. In addition to re-signing Flacco, Berry traded for former Steelers first-round pick Kenny Pickett and drafted two more quarterbacks this year: Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders. That brings the total to four QBs competing for what’s typically three roster spots.

The acquisition of Pickett came at a low cost—sending Dorian Thompson-Robinson and a fifth-round pick to Pittsburgh—but his future in Cleveland appears short-lived given the roster crunch.

Amid the chaos, Flacco remains the logical choice to start the season. He’s a known quantity: a veteran gunslinger with playoff experience who can move the ball downfield, even if it comes with a few turnovers along the way. While he may not be the long-term answer, he gives the team stability and a chance to compete from Week 1.

Behind him, Gabriel and Sanders are expected to battle for developmental reps. Gabriel offers mobility and a playing style reminiscent of Mayfield, while Sanders flashes impressive accuracy—especially when given time in the pocket. Both are intriguing prospects, but likely not ready to lead an NFL offense just yet.

The Browns’ quarterback situation is crowded, but it’s clear the immediate path forward starts with Flacco. Let the rookies learn, compete, and grow behind him. If the playoffs slip out of reach early, the coaching staff can turn to the future. But until then, experience is the team's best weapon.
