Five for Fighting and Vertical Horizon Take the Stage – Tonight
Vertical Horizon - kicks off the night at 6pm
Five for Fighting - follows at 7:30pm
Fans of heartfelt ballads and late-90s rock anthems are in for a treat as Five for Fighting and Vertical Horizon share the spotlight in a special live performance.
Five for Fighting, the stage name of singer-songwriter John Ondrasik, rose to fame with the enduring hit “Superman (It’s Not Easy)” and continued to dominate the charts with “100 Years,” “The Riddle,” “Chances,” “World,” and “Easy Tonight.” With over a billion streams and appearances in more than 350 films, TV shows, and commercials, Ondrasik remains one of the top adult contemporary artists of the 2000s.
Vertical Horizon made their breakthrough in 1999 with the multi-platinum album Everything You Want. The title track became the most-played single of 2000 and topped both the Billboard Hot 100 and Adult Top 40 charts. Their success continued with hits like “You’re a God” and “Best I Ever Had (Grey Sky Morning),” the latter later becoming a country hit for Gary Allan.

👮🏻♂️ Mentor Schools to Have Police Officers in Every Building This Fall
Beginning with the upcoming school year starting next week, every Mentor school will have a police officer on site under a new agreement between the city and the school district.
The updated arrangement expands on a program first launched in 2003, when a full-time officer was assigned to Mentor High School. Over time, officers were added to other schools on a contractual basis. Now, the revised plan will provide permanent part-time officers in every district building.
The initiative, approved by city council in July, reflects a long-standing partnership between the city and the school district focused on campus safety. The agreement outlines specific goals, duties, and responsibilities for both parties, ensuring a consistent presence in all schools.
Four new officers will be hired for the district, with the city aiming to eventually have a full-time officer in each school. The additional positions will be filled primarily by recent retirees and will be funded by the school district. Officers will remain city employees, and the expanded program will not divert resources from other policing duties.
Recruitment for the part-time school resource officer positions is expected to begin soon, with the goal of having the full team in place before the new school year begins.
📰 Mentor Native Luke Floriea Waived by Browns After Preseason Hamstring Injury
Local rookie wide receiver Luke Floriea’s promising start with the Cleveland Browns came to a sudden halt during his preseason debut. The Mentor native, who earned a training camp roster spot after an impressive rookie minicamp tryout, showcased his skills with a highlight 30-yard one-handed catch against the Carolina Panthers.
Unfortunately, the same play left him with a hamstring injury that sidelined him for the rest of the game. Days later, the Browns announced they had waived Floriea with an injury designation. While his immediate future is uncertain, teammates and fans alike hope he’ll return once healthy, potentially joining the practice squad to continue his journey with his hometown team.

Get guards that install over your existing gutters - no need to replace anything so you’ll save a fortune.
With a little help, you can find the best gutter guards at a great price.

🏘️ Home Office Makeovers Dominate 2025 Remodeling Projects
The Remodeling 2024 Cost vs. Value Report highlighted that exterior and energy-efficient upgrades continue to yield impressive paybacks, with garage door replacements leading the nation at a remarkable 194% ROI. Yet, today’s remodeling decisions often extend beyond resale value, reflecting a shift toward creating spaces that fit daily life and personal style.
Topping the list of 2025 home improvement trends is the home office renovation. With more than 60% of professionals working at least part-time from home, dedicated office spaces are no longer a luxury—they’re essential. The days of makeshift pandemic setups are over, replaced by thoughtful designs that enhance productivity, comfort, and aesthetic appeal.
Modern home office upgrades blend ergonomics with personality. Popular features include acoustic panels, sliding doors for sound privacy, custom shelving, and clutter-free cabinetry. Adjustable desks, ergonomic chairs, layered lighting, and greenery bring both practicality and warmth. Many homeowners are also creating Zoom-ready backdrops and incorporating soundproofing to add value if the room is marketed as a flexible-use space.
By combining comfort, personalization, and efficiency, home office renovations are proving to be one of the smartest—and most enjoyable—home investments in 2025.

🏘️ Raising the Roof, One Home at a Time:
How CRS Roofing Built a Business on Trust and Family Values

In Mentor, Ohio, a family-run roofing company has become a cornerstone of quality, integrity, and craftsmanship in Northeast Ohio’s home improvement scene.
MENTOR, Ohio — On a crisp summer morning, the rhythmic thud of hammers echoes through a quiet residential street as a team of workers installs a new roof. At the edge of the driveway, Mario Juarez, founder and owner of CRS Roofing LLC, surveys the site with calm assurance. He’s done this hundreds of times, but to him, every job still matters.
“When we put a roof on someone’s home,” Juarez says, “we’re protecting a family, their memories, everything they’ve worked for.”
Founded in 2019, CRS Roofing has grown into one of Northeast Ohio’s most trusted roofing and exterior service providers. But despite that growth, the company has remained grounded in its original mission: quality craftsmanship, honest work, and treating every customer like a neighbor.
From the Ground Up
CRS Roofing began as a family-run operation with decades of experience behind it. After working in the roofing industry for years, Juarez launched the business with a simple goal—doing things the right way. His son now manages the roofing crews, and his daughter leads social media and branding efforts.
“The idea was never to become the biggest,” Juarez says. “It was to be the best. And to build something we could all be proud of.”
Word-of-mouth quickly spread across Mentor and the surrounding communities. Neighbors shared stories of the company that showed up on time, cleaned up after the job, and delivered top-notch results.
What Sets CRS Roofing Apart
In an industry where subcontracting is the norm, CRS Roofing takes a hands-on, local approach. Every installer is an in-house employee—trained, insured, and OSHA-certified.
“We don’t hand your home over to strangers,” Juarez says. “Our team is our family, and that makes a big difference in the quality and accountability of the work we do.”
CRS specializes in residential and commercial roofing, as well as gutters, siding, and windows. Their customers love the range of materials—everything from 30-year shingles to sleek metal roofing—combined with expert guidance and attention to detail.
“Our goal is to provide real solutions,” Juarez adds. “Not shortcuts, not band-aids. Just quality that lasts.”
Trust, Integrity, and Craftsmanship
CRS Roofing’s steady growth is rooted in one thing: trust. Homeowners consistently praise the company’s honesty, professionalism, and dedication to doing the job right.
“We treat every home like it’s our own,” Juarez says. “That’s why people call us back—and tell their friends to call us, too.”
The company’s five-star reviews across social media and online platforms reflect not just satisfaction, but true appreciation for a team that genuinely cares.
The Crew Behind the Craft
While Juarez is the founder and face of CRS Roofing, he gives full credit to his team.
“The real magic happens because of our crew,” he says. “They show up early, work hard, and take pride in what they do.”
Many team members have been with the company from the beginning. Training, safety, and a sense of ownership are built into the company’s DNA.
Looking Ahead
CRS Roofing isn’t chasing fast growth—it’s focused on steady expansion rooted in the same family values it started with. Juarez envisions broadening exterior services and potentially opening another location to serve more of Northeast Ohio.
“We’re not just here to put up roofs,” he says. “We’re here to build something lasting—relationships, homes, and a company our kids can be proud of.”
Or as Mario Juarez likes to say: “If it’s not CRS, then it’s not the best.”

🏈 Browns Dominate Panthers in Preseason Opener: Five Standout Performances
The Cleveland Browns opened their preseason with a 30-10 win over the Carolina Panthers, delivering a strong showing on both sides of the ball. Rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders looked comfortable in his first NFL action, showing composure and accuracy. The defense applied steady pressure and made plays in the secondary, controlling the game from start to finish.
Let’s Look at the Five Biggest Takeaways from the Win:
Shedeur Sanders Shows NFL Readiness – Threw for 138 yards, two touchdowns, completed over 60% of passes, and added 19 rushing yards. Displayed poise under pressure, though took one avoidable sack.
Julian Okwara’s Breakout Performance – Recorded two sacks and multiple QB pressures, strengthening his case for a roster spot in the defensive line rotation.
Jamari Thrash’s Added Strength – Appeared more physical than last year, breaking tackles and showing potential for a bigger role in the slot.
Carson Schwesinger Anchors the Defense – Made key stops with sharp instincts and discipline, reinforcing his long-term value in the middle.
Depth in the Defensive Backfield – Nik Needham snagged an interception, rookie Dom Jones impressed, and undrafted safety Donovan McMillon had a strong outing with a key pass breakup.
