Not every train offers peak foliage views, but several stand out for their scenic charm. Whether you're after a luxurious dining experience, a quick countryside escape, or a long-haul journey, these seven rides deliver something special.
Before You Book
Amtrak leads in scenic routes and has improved many of its lines, including Acela. But don’t overlook regional and private operators, which often offer excellent—and sometimes cheaper—fall experiences.
Ticket prices range from basic coach to private sleeper cabins. Booking early helps lock in better rates. Seniors 65+ may qualify for discounts, and some trains allow pets or offer accessible accommodations. Wi-Fi isn’t always reliable on remote routes, so downloading content in advance is recommended.

⚾ Guardians Clinch Playoff Berth on Bizarre Walk-Off Against Rangers
Guardians Clinch Playoff Spot with Unusual Walk-Off Win Over Rangers
Cleveland secured a postseason berth in dramatic fashion Saturday night, defeating the Texas Rangers 3-2 on a walk-off hit-by-pitch.
With the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the ninth, C.J. Kayfus was hit on the forearm by a pitch from Robert Garcia, allowing pinch runner Petey Halpin to score the winning run. The victory guarantees the Guardians at least a wild card and keeps them tied with Detroit atop the AL Central at 87-74, with one game left.
Cleveland holds the head-to-head tiebreaker over the Tigers, so a win Sunday or a Detroit loss would clinch the division. It’s a remarkable turnaround for a team that was 40-48 and 15.5 games out in July.
The result also eliminated the Houston Astros from playoff contention, ending their streak dating back to 2016.
Johnathan Rodríguez opened the scoring with a two-run homer in the first. The Rangers tied it with an RBI double from Josh Jung and a solo home run by Adolis García.
Joey Cantillo struck out eight over 5 2/3 innings for Cleveland, while Jacob Latz fanned six in 5 1/3 for Texas. The Guardians bullpen held Texas scoreless over the final 3 1/3 innings, with Cade Smith earning the win.
A pivotal defensive moment came in the eighth when Dylan Moore was thrown out at the plate trying a delayed steal, preserving the tie.
Cleveland is now 41-25 since the All-Star break, the best mark in the AL. They’re also just the fourth team in MLB history to make the playoffs after a 10-game losing streak.
The regular season wraps up Sunday, with Logan Allen starting for Cleveland against Patrick Corbin of Texas.

🏈 Can Elite Browns Defense Carry Cleveland in Motown?

The Browns roll into Detroit Sunday in Week 4 seeking redemption, carrying their identity on the back of a defense that’s currently ranked #1 in the NFL, giving up just 204.3 yards per game.
In a 1–2 start, Cleveland leans heavily on that defense. Myles Garrett is absorbing double teams at an elite rate — yet he’s still producing sacks, tackles for loss, and QB pressure that forces offenses to cheat. The Browns also lead the league in run defense, routinely stifling rushing attacks before they gain traction.
But statistics alone won’t win this game. The Lions counter with Jared Goff, a quarterback adept at slicing through man coverage. Detroit’s ground game must also be wary — if Cleveland can choke off the run, Goff may be forced into uncomfortable throws. On the offensive side, Cleveland must string together sustained drives. Mistakes, turnovers or three-and-outs will hand momentum to the home side.
Injury concerns add intrigue. The Browns elevated cornerbacks Tre Avery and Dom Jones ahead of kickoff — a signal that the secondary may be adjusting for depth. Denzel Ward, meanwhile, practiced with limitations after a shoulder issue.
If the defense sets the tone early and forces Detroit into errors, Cleveland can stay in this. But without offensive consistency, the Browns’ top-ranked unit may not be enough.
