📰 The Spot on Lakeshore Closes Its Doors After 4 Years

Beloved Brunch Spot ‘The Spot on Lakeshore’ Closes After 4 Years

After four years of serving up crowd-pleasing breakfast, lunch, and weekend brunch, The Spot on Lakeshore has officially closed its doors. Located at 7272 Lakeshore Blvd., the popular eatery made the unexpected announcement on social media, leaving regulars and local food lovers stunned.

Chef and owner Zachary Bond shared that the decision to close was due to “circumstances beyond our control,” thanking the community for its support and acknowledging the deep connections formed through the restaurant.

While the exact reasons remain private, Bond reflected candidly on the journey—highlighting both the lessons learned and the personal growth he experienced through ownership. He described The Spot as more than a restaurant: it was a creative and emotional outlet during a turbulent time for the hospitality industry.

Though The Spot is now closed, its impact on the community and local food scene will be fondly remembered.

📢 The Wellness Connection Brings a Holistic Path to Health in Mentor

A studio blending science, compassion, and community connection helps clients find relief, energy, and balance.

On Mentor Avenue, The Wellness Connection has become a welcoming place where health and hope intersect. Since opening in 2022, the studio has helped residents manage pain, regain energy, and discover natural changes that improve daily life.

“We’re not just here to ease pain,” said the owner, Karen Martin, a certified wellness coach. “We’re here to connect people with solutions that make them feel stronger, healthier, and more energized in every part of their lives.”

A Mission Beyond Pain Relief

The Wellness Connection was founded on the idea that true health is more than simply eliminating discomfort. While therapy mats remain central to services—helping clients with arthritis, neuropathy, back or knee pain, and post-surgery recovery—the studio goes further.

Through personalized wellness coaching, clients receive tailored guidance on hydration, nutrition, sleep, and energy. This individualized approach makes every plan unique. “Sometimes clients need strategies for better rest, sometimes they need hydration tips, and sometimes they need encouragement,” the owner said. “We meet people where they are.”

Innovative Products, Real Results

The studio’s small but expanding retail space allows clients and local residents alike to access carefully chosen wellness products. One standout addition is a water additive infused with molecular hydrogen. Many clients say it helps clear brain fog, supports gut health, and provides long-lasting energy without the crash of caffeine.

One client shared that after adding the supplement, they felt sharper at work and had the endurance to finish evening workouts—something they hadn’t experienced in years. These success stories illustrate how small, natural tools can make a big difference in daily living.

What Sets the Studio Apart

Unlike larger, clinical environments, The Wellness Connection focuses on attentive listening and holistic solutions. Sessions aren’t rushed, and each client’s goals guide the process. This human-centered model has helped the studio earn trust in Mentor’s growing wellness community.

“We take a natural and holistic approach to everything we do,” the owner explained. “With the right therapies and supplements, everyone has the chance to live a healthier, happier, pain-free life.”

Looking Ahead

The Wellness Connection plans to expand product offerings and host events to share simple, science-backed practices for better sleep, hydration, and energy. These sessions will be approachable and practical, giving Mentor residents tools they can use immediately.

“Health is a journey, not a destination,” the owner said. “We want to walk that journey with people, wherever they are starting from.”

If you’ve been struggling with pain, low energy, or brain fog, now is the time to take action. Visit The Wellness Connection to explore therapy mats, personalized coaching, and natural supplements designed to help you feel better in your body and your day.

🚶🏻‍♀️‍➡️ Wellness This Week:
Simple Habits, Lasting Benefits

Looking to feel better without a complete life overhaul? This week’s wellness roundup encourages small, manageable habits that can lead to big improvements. Start your morning with five deep breaths and a glass of water. Throughout the day, stand up or stretch every hour to keep your energy up. At mealtime, aim for meals that combine protein and fiber for steady energy.

To wind down, unplug from screens 30 minutes before bed and note one thing you're grateful for. Feeling stressed? A quick one- to two-minute breathing exercise can help reset your mood. Or go bigger with a “mini reset” day—think sugar-free or a digital detox.

Step outside and explore local trails for a wellness boost. Try the Scenic Loop Trail in Willoughby, the Hemlock–Hickory Fox Loop, or Chapin Forest’s Lucky Stone Loop. With over 60 miles of trails in Lake Metroparks, there’s plenty to discover.

🏈 No Joe! Cleveland Commits to Youth Movement at QB, Sends Flacco to Cincinnati

The Cleveland Browns have officially moved on from veteran quarterback Joe Flacco, trading him to the Cincinnati Bengals in a move that cements rookie Dillon Gabriel as the team’s starter.

Announced Tuesday, the trade sends Flacco and a 2026 sixth-round pick to Cincinnati in exchange for a 2026 fifth-rounder. Flacco, who threw for 815 yards, two touchdowns, and six interceptions over four games, led the team to a 1-3 start before being replaced by Gabriel.

Gabriel’s promotion marks a shift toward the future, with the Browns opting to invest in youth and upside at quarterback. The deal also creates an opportunity for rookie Shedeur Sanders to move up from the emergency No. 3 spot, potentially becoming Gabriel’s backup as the season progresses.

Trading Flacco adds draft value and clears a path for the team’s young quarterbacks to gain experience. It also reflects Cleveland’s growing confidence in Gabriel’s ability to lead the offense moving forward.

Flacco now heads to a struggling Bengals team dealing with inconsistent play from backup Jake Browning in the absence of the injured Joe Burrow. With Cincinnati desperate for stability, Flacco is expected to compete for the starting job immediately and could suit up as early as Sunday against the Packers—a team he helped defeat in Week 3 while with Cleveland.

Though Flacco's stint with the Browns was short-lived, he helped bridge a transitional period. With Gabriel in command and Sanders potentially rising, Cleveland is firmly focused on its future.
