🛁 Lore Bathing Club Brings Hot-and-Cold Wellness Ritual to NYC Locals

Could this be coming to the Mentor area next?

A fresh wellness trend is taking hold in New York City, offering a gentler alternative to high-intensity workouts and spas. Lore, a new “bathing club” in Noho, invites New Yorkers to practice contrast therapy—rotating between hot saunas and icy plunge pools—multiple times a week for long-term health benefits.

Inspired by Scandinavian winter swimming clubs, Lore promotes regular visits, backed by science linking sauna use to better heart health, sleep, brain function, and longevity. Cold immersion may also ease muscle soreness, improve recovery, and support immunity and mood.

The Manhattan club offers a calming, minimalistic space where guests alternate between an infrared sauna (up to 140°F) and a Finnish sauna (up to 190°F), followed by a dip in a cold plunge pool chilled to 40–50°F. Sessions last 75 minutes, with the option to repeat the hot-cold cycle several times. A brief guided moment may include aromatherapy or stretching, but otherwise, the environment is quiet and stripped-down.

Memberships cost $145 per week or $225 per month for unlimited access, emphasizing routine over indulgence.

The facility includes a café-style reception area with bone broth, tea, and juice, and features warm lighting, wood finishes, and a tranquil design. Lore targets a wide demographic—from younger adults replacing nightlife with wellness to older individuals seeking a low-barrier health routine. The founders envision it as a “third space” for relaxation and community, not just fitness.

Unlike gyms or group classes, Lore requires only the ability to sit in heat, brave the cold, and commit to the process. Members are likely to leave feeling refreshed—and healthier—with every visit.

🏀 Mentor Lady Cardinals Dominate Euclid in 66-25 Rout

The Mentor Lady Cardinals delivered a dominant performance over the weekend, overpowering the Euclid Panthers in a lopsided 66-25 victory. With an assertive offense and tight defensive play, Mentor controlled the game from start to finish, extending their season record to 5-1. The lady Cardinals shot 52% from the field and gathered 23 steals from the Panthers.

Leading the charge was standout player Nina Rodriguez, who showcased her all-around skill with 15 points, 5 assists—a season-high—and 4 rebounds. Her impact on the game was further reflected in a +19 efficiency rating. On the defensive end, Ashlyn McKinney set a personal best with 5 steals, helping stifle any offensive momentum from Euclid.

Riding a wave of confidence, the Lady Cardinals prepare to host the Painesville Riverside Beavers (4-1) in a highly anticipated matchup tonight.

🏒 Fast Start and Strong Finish Propel Mentor Hockey to Victory

The Mentor Cardinals boys ice hockey team edged out a narrow 4-3 victory over the Hudson Explorers on Sunday in a game marked by momentum swings and a dramatic final period.

Mentor came out strong, netting two goals in the opening period to take early control. Hudson answered back in the second, cutting the deficit to 2-1 while keeping Mentor scoreless. The third period turned into a back-and-forth shootout, with each team scoring twice in a wild finish. Despite the pressure, Mentor held on to secure the win.

Joe Mackey led the Cardinals with a standout performance, contributing three points—scoring the game-winning goal and assisting on two others. Adam Stoops and Beckett Swinehart also found the back of the net, while Zach Ulshafer added two assists to support the offensive effort.

In goal, CJ Lobue picked up the win, facing 11 shots and stopping 8.

With this victory, Mentor improves to 9-6-1 overall and remains unbeaten in conference play at 2-0. The Cardinals will return to the ice Friday night for another conference matchup, hosting the Amherst Steele Comets (5-6) at 7 p.m.

If you have moved, you could save on car insurance

Did you move recently? Car insurance rules vary widely from state to state. Minimum liability requirements in one state may be far below what’s required in another. A best practice is to compare coverage limits and shop around for quotes whenever you move, rather than just updating your old policy.
