🌬️ Severe Winds, Plunging Temps, and Snow to Impact Northeast Ohio Monday

As of late Sunday night, Northeast Ohio is on alert as a powerful storm system pushes through the region overnight into Monday, bringing damaging winds, a dramatic temperature drop, and potentially dangerous travel conditions.

Showers and thunderstorms moved through late Sunday night, and behind them, temperatures are expected to plunge from the 60s into the 20s by sunrise Monday. Winds will rapidly increase overnight, shifting from the south to the west, with gusts reaching 50 to 60 mph and continuing through much of Monday.

High Wind Warnings and Wind Advisories are in effect across the region. Power outages, downed trees, and difficult travel — especially for high-profile vehicles — are possible. Wind chills early Monday will feel near zero.

While Monday morning may begin mostly dry, snow showers are expected by the afternoon, especially from the northwest. Combined with strong winds, the snow could lead to reduced visibility and slick road conditions.

Lake-effect snow is expected to continue Monday night into early Tuesday, with another round of snow possible late Tuesday into Wednesday. Cold air remains in place through New Year’s Day, keeping temperatures below freezing with additional chances for snow.

🏃🏻‍♂️ Joe Baur’s Ultra Run Honors His Mother and Raises Cancer Awareness

Mentor Native Plans 326-Mile Run Across Ohio in Honor of Late Mother

Mentor native Joe Baur is preparing to run the 326-mile Ohio to Erie Trail this spring in memory of his mother, who died of breast cancer in 2019. The run also serves as a fundraiser for cancer-related causes.

The trail spans from the Ohio River to Lake Erie, passing through cities, towns, and rural landscapes — a fitting setting for Baur’s personal challenge.

Baur, who grew up in Mentor and attended Miami University, now lives in Germany with his wife, Melanie. Though active in sports from a young age, he didn’t start distance running until adulthood. He ran his first half marathon in Cleveland and later embraced trail and ultra running in Germany, where the country’s trail systems inspired his passion.

He has since completed ultra races in Japan, France, Oman, and Nepal. Together with his wife, he runs Burning River Running Company, organizing international trail running tours and training regularly across Europe.

Inspired by fellow Mentor native Katie Spotz and runner Gary Sines — who completed the trail in just over six days — Baur aims to run it in five days, covering 60 to 70 miles each day.

His first attempt in October, on the anniversary of his mother’s passing, ended early due to an ankle injury after a 67-mile day. Despite feeling strong otherwise, he was forced to stop.

Baur is now focused on recovery and training for a second attempt in spring. He’s also seeking sponsors and hopes the run will raise both funds and awareness for those impacted by cancer.

What investment is rudimentary for billionaires but ‘revolutionary’ for 70,571+ investors entering 2026?

Imagine this. You open your phone to an alert. It says, “you spent $236,000,000 more this month than you did last month.”

If you were the top bidder at Sotheby’s fall auctions, it could be reality.

Sounds crazy, right? But when the ultra-wealthy spend staggering amounts on blue-chip art, it’s not just for decoration.

The scarcity of these treasured artworks has helped drive their prices, in exceptional cases, to thin-air heights, without moving in lockstep with other asset classes.

The contemporary and post war segments have even outpaced the S&P 500 overall since 1995.*

Now, over 70,000 people have invested $1.2 billion+ across 500 iconic artworks featuring Banksy, Basquiat, Picasso, and more.

How? You don’t need Medici money to invest in multimillion dollar artworks with Masterworks.

Thousands of members have gotten annualized net returns like 14.6%, 17.6%, and 17.8% from 26 sales to date.

🏡 Affordability Gains, Inventory Strains: Inside the Housing Outlook

The 2026 housing market in Ohio is expected to begin a meaningful rebound after years of high interest rates and low inventory. Projected rate cuts and continued wage growth could improve affordability, allowing more buyers to re-enter the market. However, supply remains a major challenge, as many homeowners are staying put and new construction is hindered by rising costs, financing hurdles, and outdated zoning laws. Urban areas like Cleveland and Akron face persistent shortages of affordable homes. Price growth is expected to stabilize, with modest appreciation across the state. Industry leaders stress that zoning reform and cross-sector collaboration are essential to expand inventory and meet demand, positioning 2026 as a potential recovery year for Ohio’s housing market.

🏈 Browns Defense Stands Tall in Final Seconds to Defeat Steelers, 13-6

The Cleveland Browns secured their first AFC North win of the season with a 13-6 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday at Huntington Bank Field, thanks to a decisive defensive stand in the final seconds.

Trailing by seven with under two minutes left, Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers drove his team to the Browns' 7-yard line. He targeted Marquez Valdes-Scantling on three straight plays, but cornerback Denzel Ward was in tight coverage each time. On fourth down, Ward again shut it down, knocking away the final pass to seal the win.

Earlier in the fourth quarter, Sanders threw an interception, giving Pittsburgh possession at the Browns' 31. But the defense held the Steelers to just nine yards, and a fourth-down pass from Rodgers went out of bounds. The Browns then added a 33-yard field goal from Andre Szmyt to extend the lead to 13-6.

Cleveland started strong with scores on its first two drives. Quarterback Shedeur Sanders went 17-of-23 for 186 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions. His scoring pass came after a 42-yard throw to Cedric Tillman and a 27-yard strike to tight end Harold Fannin Jr., who was injured on the play and didn’t return.

Dylan Sampson led the Browns' run game with 27 yards, while Jerry Jeudy had a team-high 54 receiving yards. Szmyt also hit a 50-yard field goal on the opening drive.

On defense, Carson Schwesinger and Devin Bush each tallied nine tackles. Grant Delpit and Alex Wright recorded sacks, and while Myles Garrett was quiet, the defense held Pittsburgh scoreless in the second half, including on two deep drives.

With a fast start and clutch stops, the Browns held off the Steelers and limited them to a season-low in scoring.

If you have moved, you could save on car insurance

Did you move recently? Car insurance rules vary widely from state to state. Minimum liability requirements in one state may be far below what’s required in another. A best practice is to compare coverage limits and shop around for quotes whenever you move, rather than just updating your old policy.
