Curtner served as a part-time officer with the city’s police department from May 2016 to December 2017, before continuing his law enforcement career with the North Perry Police Department.

📰 Bar Fairies Thank Responsible Drivers with Coffee Gift Cards in Mentor
In the early hours of Thursday morning, a meaningful gesture appeared across parking lots in Mentor, where volunteers from the Bar Fairies nonprofit organization placed $5 coffee gift cards on vehicles left overnight outside local bars. The initiative aims to recognize and reward those who made the responsible choice not to drive impaired.
A total of 49 cards were distributed throughout Lake County as part of the Bar Fairies’ ongoing effort to promote sober driving, DUI prevention, and overall community safety. The group’s mission carries a deeply personal origin: it honors the memory of Taylor Castilyn, a young woman tragically killed in 2017 by a drunk driver who was fleeing police. Her legacy continues to inspire proactive measures to save lives.
The Bar Fairies’ work not only encourages responsible behavior but also fosters a supportive and safety-conscious culture within the community. Officer Tayerle joined volunteer Katrina during Thursday’s campaign, underscoring the shared commitment between local law enforcement and community advocates.

🧑🏻⚕️ The Fiber Fix: How One Simple Nutrient Supports Gut and Immune Health
How Fiber Fuels Gut & Immune Health (Especially After 50)
If you’ve ever been told to “eat more fiber,” this is why it truly matters — especially for people 50 and over. Fiber does far more than keep digestion regular. It plays a powerful role in gut health, immune strength, heart health, and even inflammation control.
Your Gut Is the Command Center
Roughly 70% of your immune system lives in your gut. Fiber feeds the good bacteria there, helping them thrive. When those beneficial bacteria are well-fed, they produce compounds that reduce inflammation and support immune defenses — something that becomes increasingly important as we age.
Fiber Helps Balance Blood Sugar & Cholesterol
Soluble fiber (found in foods like oats, beans, apples, and flaxseed) slows digestion. This helps prevent blood sugar spikes and can lower LDL (“bad”) cholesterol — both key concerns for women after menopause.
Digestive Comfort Matters
Hormonal changes, medications, and reduced activity can all slow digestion over time. Fiber adds bulk and softness to stool, helping prevent constipation, bloating, and discomfort without relying on laxatives.
It May Reduce Inflammation
Chronic, low-grade inflammation is linked to arthritis, heart disease, and autoimmune issues. Fiber-rich diets are consistently associated with lower inflammation markers, which can mean fewer aches and better overall resilience.
How Much Do You Need?
Women over 50 should target 21–25 grams of fiber a day, and men about 30 grams or more, but most people aren’t getting nearly enough.
Easy Ways to Add More Fiber (Without Upset):
Start your day with oatmeal, chia, or ground flax
Add beans or lentils to soups and salads
Choose whole fruits over juice
Swap white bread or pasta for whole-grain versions
Increase fiber gradually and drink plenty of water
Bottom line: Fiber quietly supports digestion, immunity, heart health, and inflammation — making it one of the simplest, most effective wellness upgrades you can make right now. control of my home—and keep winter surprises outside, where they belong.

🏀 Cavaliers Stun Pacers Late, Hand Indiana Record 13th Straight Loss
Cavaliers Rally to Edge Pacers, Indiana’s Franchise Record 13th Straight Loss
The Cleveland Cavaliers mounted a strong fourth-quarter comeback to defeat the Indiana Pacers 120-116 Tuesday night in Indianapolis, handing the Pacers a franchise-worst 13th straight loss. The win marked Cleveland’s fourth in five games.
Cleveland overcame a nine-point deficit entering the final quarter, led by Darius Garland, who scored 14 of his 29 points down the stretch. Despite missing several key players — including Donovan Mitchell, Max Strus, and losing Dean Wade in the first half — the Cavaliers found support from Evan Mobley (20 points), Jarrett Allen (19), and Sam Merrill, who hit six 3-pointers for 19 points.
Indiana, last season’s Eastern Conference champion, now holds the NBA’s worst record at 6-31. Pascal Siakam led the team with 22 points, Jay Huff added 20 on efficient shooting, and Andrew Nembhard posted 15 points with 11 assists. The Pacers were also without several injured starters, including Tyrese Haliburton and Bennedict Mathurin.
Despite a late chance to force overtime, Indiana fell short as the final moments turned into a free-throw battle. The loss delays coach Rick Carlisle’s bid for his 1,000th career win.
