🌨️ Rain, Wind, Then Snow: Northeast Ohio’s Weekend Forecast

A strong cold front will move through Northeast Ohio on Friday, bringing gusty winds, rain, and falling temperatures.

A Wind Advisory is in effect from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. in several counties. Southwest winds of 15 to 25 mph could gust up to 50 mph, creating a risk of isolated power outages and difficult travel for high-profile vehicles.

Rain arrives tonight with a slight chance of thunderstorms. The severe weather threat is low, and showers end early Friday.

Temperatures will reach the low 50s by midday before dropping into the 30s by evening. A few snowflakes may mix in, but no accumulation is expected.

Saturday will be mostly cloudy with highs in the upper 30s. Snow showers are likely Sunday and Monday, with milder 40s returning by midweek.

⚡ Electric Bills Still Rising—but State Ruling Softens the Blow for FirstEnergy Customers

FirstEnergy Customers to See Smaller Electric Rate Increases After State Ruling

Electric customers served by FirstEnergy utilities in Ohio will still see rate increases beginning March 1, but the hikes will be smaller than originally planned following a new ruling from state regulators.

The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio approved a change that spreads storm repair costs over 25 years instead of five. By extending the repayment period, FirstEnergy will collect about $9.8 million annually for storm repairs—nearly $40 million less per year than first proposed.

Customers of Cleveland Illuminating Company and Ohio Edison, which serve Northeast Ohio including Mentor and Lake County, will still experience base rate increases, though they will be more gradual and less severe.

Toledo Edison customers will see greater relief. Those customers were already set for lower base rates, and the updated decision will result in an even larger decrease.

For residents, the ruling means electric bills may rise this spring, but the long-term financial impact will be more manageable under the extended repayment plan.

📰 Willoughby Leaders Explore DORA Plan to Boost Local Businesses

Residents and visitors in downtown Willoughby may soon be allowed to take alcoholic beverages beyond the walls of local bars and restaurants.

City leaders are considering the creation of a Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area, or DORA. If approved, the district would permit customers to purchase drinks from participating businesses and carry them outside within a defined downtown boundary.

Right now, drinks must be finished before leaving an establishment. Supporters say a DORA could increase foot traffic by encouraging people to stroll, shop, and spend more time downtown. Business owners believe it would benefit not only restaurants and bars, but also nearby retail stores.

DORAs operate under the oversight of the Ohio Department of Commerce, and several already exist across Northeast Ohio, including in Cuyahoga, Summit, and Lake counties.

The idea remains in its early stages. Council has discussed the concept with the downtown restaurant and bar association, but no boundaries have been set and no formal proposal has been drafted. One council member indicated the city may survey residents before moving forward and is considering limited hours, such as Fridays and Saturdays from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. For now, the proposal is still under review.

What investment is rudimentary for billionaires but ‘revolutionary’ for 70,571+ investors entering 2026?

Imagine this. You open your phone to an alert. It says, “you spent $236,000,000 more this month than you did last month.”

If you were the top bidder at Sotheby’s fall auctions, it could be reality.

Sounds crazy, right? But when the ultra-wealthy spend staggering amounts on blue-chip art, it’s not just for decoration.

The scarcity of these treasured artworks has helped drive their prices, in exceptional cases, to thin-air heights, without moving in lockstep with other asset classes.

The contemporary and post war segments have even outpaced the S&P 500 overall since 1995.*

Now, over 70,000 people have invested $1.2 billion+ across 500 iconic artworks featuring Banksy, Basquiat, Picasso, and more.

How? You don’t need Medici money to invest in multimillion dollar artworks with Masterworks.

Thousands of members have gotten annualized net returns like 14.6%, 17.6%, and 17.8% from 26 sales to date.

⚾ Guardians’ Rotation Takes Shape as Williams Emphasizes Team-First Mentality

As expectations rise around the Cleveland Guardians’ pitching staff, Gavin Williams is keeping his focus simple: win games.

Following the strongest season of his career, Williams has been mentioned as a potential ace or Opening Day starter in 2026. The right-hander has made it clear that labels and recognition are not his priority. His goal is contributing in any role that helps Cleveland compete for a championship.

That mindset reflects the Guardians’ clubhouse culture. From the coaching staff to the roster, the organization is focused on bringing a World Series title to Cleveland, with team success outweighing individual accolades.

Williams’ 2025 performance fueled the excitement. He posted a 3.06 ERA and 1.270 WHIP across 167.2 innings, guiding the Guardians to a 12-5 record in his starts while tallying 3.8 WAR. The numbers have sparked early Cy Young projections if he builds on that momentum.

As spring training unfolds, the rotation remains in flux. After losing Luis Ortiz, Cleveland turned to younger arms, including Parker Messick, who showed early promise before fading. His Opening Day status is uncertain.

The projected rotation includes Williams, Tanner Bibee, Logan Allen, Joey Cantillo, and Slade Cecconi. While Bibee began last season as the ace, some regression has fueled speculation that Williams could assume a larger role.

Manager Stephen Vogt has indicated Allen and Cantillo will receive the first spring starts as the team evaluates its depth. Regardless of his spot, Williams remains focused on helping Cleveland win.
