How One Wellness Brand Is Helping America Sleep Better

You know the importance of sleep, but actually getting enough is easier said than done. One wellness brand decided to study the problem and whether CBD could help.

CBD users have long reported feeling calmer and sleeping better, whether taking the compound by itself or with related hemp-derived compounds like CBN and THC. But rumor isn’t research, so CBDistillery conducted two sleep studies: a 2021 study into CBD and CBN, and a 2023 study with technology app Releaf into CBD, CBN and THC.

Study participants who took CBD and CBN reported falling asleep easier and sleeping an hour longer per night, on average. Study participants who took THC as well as CBD and CBN reported improved quality of sleep and waking up more refreshed the next morning.

📰 Mentor Lagoons Marina Earns Ohio Clean Marina Recertification

Mentor Lagoons Marina has again been recognized as an Ohio Clean Marina, reaffirming its commitment to environmental responsibility. The recertification follows a successful site review on April 6, 2026, confirming the marina continues to meet standards for pollution prevention and sustainable operations.

By adopting measures to protect surrounding waterways and land, the marina remains a strong example of stewardship within Ohio’s recreational boating community. The five-year designation reflects an ongoing effort to preserve water and air quality for future generations.

The Ohio Clean Marinas Program is a partnership between the Ohio Sea Grant College Program at The Ohio State University, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, and the Ohio Marine Trades Association, promoting practical solutions to keep waterways clean.

📰 Mentor Opens Applications for $160K in Community Development Grants

The City of Mentor has opened applications for its 2026 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program, offering funding opportunities for projects scheduled between October 1, 2026, and September 30, 2027.

Approximately $160,000 in federal funding will be distributed during this cycle. Eligible projects must align with federal requirements, including benefiting low- to moderate-income residents, addressing conditions related to slums or blight, or responding to urgent community needs that pose risks to public health or safety.

Applications must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. on May 4, 2026. City officials are offering support to applicants throughout the process, with staff available to provide technical guidance and assistance for proposal development.

👷🏻‍♂️ Mentor Plans Equipment Upgrade to Support Park Maintenance

The City of Mentor is moving forward with plans to enhance its parks and public spaces through the purchase of new heavy equipment. Officials are working to acquire a wheel loader, a versatile machine used for moving soil, clearing debris, and supporting maintenance projects.

This investment supports ongoing efforts to maintain and improve parks, recreational facilities, and public landscapes. The equipment will help crews manage large-scale maintenance, seasonal work, and infrastructure needs more efficiently.

The city is seeking a modern, high-performance machine that meets standards for durability, safety, and efficiency. Once acquired, the wheel loader is expected to strengthen daily operations and improve the department’s ability to respond to community needs year-round.

⚾ Lake Catholic Shuts Out Benedictine in Conference Win

Lake Catholic earned a 3-0 conference win over Benedictine on Thursday, powered by a dominant pitching performance that held the Bengals to just two hits.

The Cougars took control early, scoring once in the second inning before adding two more runs in the sixth to secure the shutout victory. Carter Jacobs went 1-2 in the game with 2 RBIs and Josh Howman had a triple in the game and eventually came around to score for the Cougars.

Strong defense and efficient pitching kept Benedictine from generating any scoring opportunities throughout the game.

On the mound, Lake Catholic pitchers combined for a standout effort, limiting hits while recording multiple strikeouts and maintaining control from start to finish. Josh Howman got the win and went 5 innings and gave up just 2 hits, 3 walks and struck out 6. Tyler Hribar finished the last 2 innings nearly perfect, striking out a pair.

🏀 Cavaliers Hold Off Hawks Behind Mitchell, Mobley Performances

The Cleveland Cavaliers extended their late-season surge Wednesday night, defeating the Atlanta Hawks 122-116 behind strong performances from Donovan Mitchell and Evan Mobley.

Mitchell led with 31 points, while Mobley added 22 points and 19 rebounds, tying a career high. The win marked Cleveland’s fourth straight and seventh in its last eight games, strengthening its standing near the top of the Eastern Conference.

After trailing late in the first half, Cleveland used a decisive run bridging the second and third quarters to take control. A dominant third quarter created separation, though Atlanta rallied late to cut the deficit to one possession.

The Hawks’ comeback attempt fell short after a late turnover, and Cleveland sealed the win at the free-throw line. The victory keeps the Cavaliers firmly in the race for a top-three seed as the regular season winds down. These two teams will meet again tonight in Atlanta.
