☀️ One More Comfortable Day Before Dangerous Heat Arrives Next Week

If you've been enjoying the recent stretch of comfortable weather, Sunday will be your last chance before a significant heat wave settles over Northeast Ohio.
Sunday should bring sunshine and highs in the 80s, making it the perfect day to finish yard work, head to the park, or simply enjoy being outside. A few showers or thunderstorms may develop well south of the U.S. 30 corridor, but most of Lake County is expected to stay dry.
The weather changes quickly Sunday night as southerly winds begin pulling hot, humid air into the region.
By Monday, afternoon temperatures will climb into the upper 80s and lower 90s, with humidity making it feel even warmer. The hottest weather is expected Tuesday through Thursday, when highs could reach the mid- to upper 90s and heat index values may top 100 degrees.
Several consecutive days of dangerous heat can be especially hard on children, older adults, outdoor workers, and pets. Now is a good time to make sure you have a plan to stay cool, stay hydrated, and check on neighbors who may not have reliable air conditioning.
Forecasters are also watching the potential for thunderstorms Friday, followed by additional rain chances around the Fourth of July.

🏖️ Planning a Beach Day? Here's the Latest on Lake Erie's Water Quality

With temperatures expected to climb into the 90s early this week, many local residents will be heading to Headlands Beach State Park or Fairport Harbor to cool off.
The good news: the latest water quality report from the Lake County General Health District shows both beaches were rated "GOOD" during Friday morning's monitoring.
Headlands Beach recorded a morning water temperature of 69.0°, while Fairport Harbor measured 69.2°.
The Health District monitors both beaches daily between Memorial Day and Labor Day using Ohio's NowCast system, which evaluates weather conditions, rainfall, wave height, wind, birds, and other factors to predict bacteria levels before swimmers enter the water.
Officials also remind beachgoers to avoid swimming for 24 to 48 hours after heavy rainfall (½ inch or more) since runoff can temporarily increase bacteria levels.
Before heading to the beach this week, it's always a good idea to check the latest conditions, especially after storms.

🚗 The Lake Erie Coastal Weekend: Beaches, Sunsets & Pennsylvania Wine Country
Sometimes the best weekend getaways aren't the ones that take you the farthest—they're the ones that help you slow down.
Just about two hours east of Mentor, Pennsylvania's Lake Erie shoreline offers one of the region's most enjoyable weekend escapes. Pairing Erie with nearby North East creates a road trip that blends sandy beaches, waterfront sunsets, scenic vineyards, and small-town charm without spending half your weekend in the car.
Spend the morning relaxing at Presque Isle State Park, where miles of beaches, paved biking trails, calm swimming areas, and scenic overlooks make it easy to forget you're only a short drive from home. Then head just 20 minutes east to North East, Pennsylvania, the heart of Pennsylvania Wine Country, where rolling vineyards, family-owned wineries, and quiet country roads offer a completely different pace.
Many Northeast Ohio residents are surprised to learn that this region produces the majority of Pennsylvania's grapes, making it one of the largest grape-growing areas east of the Rocky Mountains.
Together, these neighboring communities create an affordable weekend that's easy to plan and feels much farther from home than it actually is.
On the website: We've put together a suggested two-day itinerary, Local Buzz travel tips, the best time to visit, estimated trip costs, practical planning advice, and our new ★★★★★ Local Buzz Verdict to help you decide if this Lake Erie coastal escape is worth your next weekend.
Coming Next Sunday: We'll head south to Hocking Hills, where towering sandstone cliffs, waterfalls, scenic overlooks, and unforgettable hiking trails create one of Ohio's most spectacular weekend adventures.

⚾ Cooper Ingle's First MLB Hit Helps Guardians Hold Off Mariners
A memorable night for rookie Cooper Ingle helped lift the Cleveland Guardians to a 4-3 win over the American League West-leading Seattle Mariners on Saturday at Progressive Field.
Making just his second major league appearance, Ingle recorded his first career hit with a two-run single during Cleveland's three-run fourth inning. Khalil Watson started the rally with an RBI double before Ingle drove home Kyle Manzardo and Watson to give the Guardians a 3-0 lead.
Brayan Rocchio added an RBI double in the fifth, while Travis Bazzana collected two hits and scored twice as Cleveland built a 4-0 advantage.
Starter Slade Cecconi turned in one of his best outings of the season, allowing just three hits over six scoreless innings to earn the victory. The Mariners threatened late when Randy Arozarena launched a three-run homer in the eighth, but Cade Smith escaped trouble in the ninth for his major league-leading 25th save.
The win comes as Cleveland continues to navigate injuries to several key players, including José Ramírez, who visited the clubhouse before the game and said he's eager to return after hand surgery. The seven-time All-Star could be back sometime in late July.
The series wraps up Sunday as Gavin Williams takes the mound for Cleveland against Seattle's Emerson Hancock.

⚾ Captains Hold Off TinCaps' Late for the Win
Lake County built an early lead and held off a late Fort Wayne rally to defeat the TinCaps 8-6 Saturday night in Eastlake, improving to 3-4 in the Midwest League second half.
Michael Kennedy earned his seventh win of the season, allowing three runs—two earned—on three hits over 5.2 innings. The left-hander struck out two, walked three, and surrendered one home run.
After Fort Wayne scored in the opening inning, the Captains answered immediately. Welbyn Francisca drew a bases-loaded walk in the first before Dean Curley worked another bases-loaded walk in the second to give Lake County the lead.
Francisca extended the advantage in the third with a two-run homer, his fourth of the season. The Captains added two more runs in the fourth on an RBI force play and Bennett Thompson's RBI single before extending the lead to 8-3 in the seventh on RBI hits from Esteban González and Garrett Howe.
The TinCaps mounted a ninth-inning comeback against the Lake County bullpen, scoring three runs. Cam Schuelke allowed three runs over 1.2 innings before Xavier Martinez recorded the final out to earn the save.
The Captains and TinCaps conclude their six-game series Sunday at Classic Auto Group Park in Eastlake. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
